What kind of drivers hole does this thing have? Does it have sticks to drive or the steering wheel type steering gear? I have the MR Models conversion coming and the Tamiya M-106A1. Should I use the drivers equipment from the Academy M-113?

Actually it is M1064, not M1046 (that would be TOW carrier Humvee). And in fact there is no such version as M1064A1.
The initial version was M1064 and it was based on M113A2, so it had steering levers. Next version was based on M113A3 and to standardize the designations it was called M1064A3. This version has steering wheel.
A1 and A2 numbers were skipped.
Also please note that both Tamiya and Academy kits have steering levers, not steering wheel. But I believe that MR Models M1064A3 conversion set includes steering wheel part.

Thanks Pawel,
Another question. Would the interior be the same color as the outside, desert sand? And would the drivers hole be this color also. There is very little referance on this vehicle.

Driver's hole would be always sea foam green (pale green color). The mortar compartment would be the same color as the original base color of outside camouflage. So M1064 originally (factory) painted in desert tan would have the tan interior, while M1064 painted in NATO 3-color camo would have forest green interior. If the NATO-camouflaged vehicle was repainted in tan, the interior would most likely be left in forest green.

Here is a link to my motor pool gallery with an M1064 (M113A2 based) mortar carrier:What kind of drivers hole does this thing have? M1064. It is actually an XM1064, one of the initial production models.
