Hi.

I saw this relatively cheap kit at a local shop. A look in the box told me that its a poorly molded copy of the Tamiya M60A3, including the instructions.

I'm wondering about if its buildable - I guess assembly should not be a problem since it is a knockoff of the Tamiya kit, but I read somewhere that Mini-Hobbies and early Trumpeter kits are uncooperative with liquid cement.

BTW, the primary reason for my interest on this kit is to just use the A3-specific parts (shrouded 105mm gun, crosswind sensor, etc.) to "upgrade" an Academy M60A1; ordering individual sprues is an exercise in frustration here.

Comments are needed. Thanks.

No, do not buy the kit. It is terrible and not buildable. The headlight guards are the raised ones copied from the Academy M60A1 w/dozer blade. The upper hull looks like it was held under a heat lamp and all the detail is soft and wax-like. The instructions point out placement of parts using Tamiya part numbers, but the actual parts are molded onto the upper hull.

The tracks in my kit did not fit, they were too loose, but this might have been because the gearbox was pre-affixed to the inside of the hull and I could not adjust the track tension.

My kit was made of a strange type of plastic that did not bond well with normal Testors liquid cement or Tamiya Extra Fine cement.

The A3 parts are not worth the price of the kit unless you get it for a steal.

Thanks.

I wonder if there's a reworked Trumpeter version of it....maybe not.

Guess I'll just do Tamiya's M48A3 instead...
