Hi,
Would the kleine Panzerbefehlswagen (DML 6222) still have been in use with that Afrika Korps when the Initial Tigers (CH/DML 6286) arrived?
The Encyc. of German Tanks of WWII says that they were still in service with "higher headquarters" until late 1942 but I can't find any specific reference info. I thought it could make an interesting diorama to illustrate the development of German armor.
Thanks,
Scott

Well I'd say yes but I have nothing to prove it with....just what I think.
The Germans were in retreat and I guess they used anything that could drive....
Although it's a complete other story, there are also stories that the Germans also used WWI tanks during the defence of Berlin.....so why not a Pzfkw I with a Tiger in Aftrica
I think it's very good possible!

Ola Scott
It could be possible although I don`t have reference of it. The Kleine Panzerbefehlswagen on the B chassis did see service till 1941/42 and the Africa campaign is in that time too. Problem is that the first time the Tiger saw actionin Africa (Tunis) was December 1942. It makes the chance of meeting each other in Africa very small.
If you built the Kleiner Panzerbefehlswagen for desert purposes make sure you make the version with the Desert fittings. Which includes airvents on the backdeck. Also After the polish campaign they uparmored the vehicle a bit. The kit you have is very good for making it a DAK Kleiner Panzerbefehlswagen.
It`s a pitty I can`t help you on the fact if the Kleiner PanzerBefehlswagen ever met de Tiger. I however don`t have any reference on that not in pictures and not in written word.

This is pretty much where I'm at. I guess I'll do a little more research before I commit to the idea.
Thanks again,
Scott

Unless you can find definite proof that it didn't happen, I'd say go with the idea.

In my photo books I can see these Tigers only accompanying Pz 3N, SdKfz 251, tractors and trucks.
