It's going to be out in a very short period of time. Having seen some of the work in progress on this kit, and more importantly the amount of corrections done to it, it's going (sticking his head on the block here ) to blow the 'opposition' out of the water.. This is definitely going to be worth the waiit.....Jim

Is there any chance we could try to get more details on this new kit or is that kinda hush at the moment?

At this moment I can't yet talk freely about the new kit, as it is up to DML to decide how and when we will reveal all the kit features. But if you ask questions here, I can try and answer at least some of them

Oh yes thats right, i recalled reading your article on the abram comparison. Great article by the way!
As for the questions, lets hope you dont regret opening the floor on this one.
1) What are the key differences in the coming abram kit by DML that will set it above the rest?
2) In true DML fashion, will the tracks require assembly like the 3 in 1 Tiger kits?
3) Would there be details in the interior?
4) Any photo etched parts and assessories sold with the kit?

1) What are the key differences in the coming abram kit by DML that will set it above the rest?
New Abrams (with "s" as this is from the name of General Creighton Williams Abrams, Jr.) kit will be much more detailed and will be more accurate than any other M1 kit to date. It definitely will not be perfectly accurate, but will be closer to the real thing than any previous 1/35 scale attempt. It will come with nice selection of interesting features and additional accessories.

Tracks will definitely require assembly, but at the moment I'm not sure yet if tracks included will be the same Magic Tracks as in M1 Panther II kit, or new design with separate link connectors (more accurate, but requiring more work to assemble).

3) Would there be details in the interior?
The only interior details included are parts for gun breech and details on the bottom of Commander's Weapons Station. It is possible that in one of future M1 family kits from DML interior will be added, but not in M1A1AIM and not in M1A2.

4) Any photo etched parts and assessories sold with the kit?
Yes, there will be quite a lot of PE parts. Also included will be pre-bent metal wires and optional aluminum barrel. Selection of accessories will include among others fully workable towbar, new style plastic fuel jerrycans, water jerrycans, several types of ammo cans and a lot more.

If someone has the link to DML's forum there is a running thread there where DML is showing some of the new features of this kit. It looks really great so far and I'm holding off on my Abrams purchase until this one comes out.

Pawel, can you tell us what sort of figures will come with the kit, if any? If so, will they be real modern tankers and not 80's style tankers wearing their utilities, will they be wearing hot suits?

There will be no figures included in M1A1AIM release. Maybe some will be added to M1A2SEP kit - I don't know yet. Designers of Gen2 figures are however involved in the AIM kit project - they design some crew gear (backpacks etc.).

Pawel,
Do you know if Dragon is planning on releasing a model of the basic M1 or M1IP?

From what I have read on Dragon's website the kit will have details like the clear caps on the roadwheel hubs, and they have this thing called a "through periscope" (see links):

M1IP kit is very likely (although it may be released as CyberHobby limited edition kit). Older M1 is less likely, but who knows?...
