Grouser color question

Does anyone know what color the track grousers that go on the Sherman tracks are? I put some on a T23 turret and am debating to leave them olive drab or should I paint them the same color as the tracks? I'm just not sure what color they were when they left the factory

If they are factory installed and haven't been used....than they would be the same colour as the tank....if they've been used ever.....they'd be rusty. Bare metal rusted overnight to a bright orange.

What is the purpose of a grouser? I have to admit, as an AF guy I have no Idea. Are the used on modern armor? #:-)

Chuck,they were an add-on feature to tracks on some Shermans and Stuart tanks The crew would add them on top of the track and bolt them on the end connectors They provided extra traction All the M10 kits have them Can't think of the kit part #'s right now

Hi,

At Track link types for VVSS from SHERMAN REGISTER you have two diagrams of grousers for Sherman tracks.
