the tanks are all ready .
The palmtrees leaves are already cut .
And the supplies are painted.
the two things that are to be done are the figures ( 2 ) and the actual diorama setting.

the rest of the pictures can be found here : Desert Dio

till later

Branden ,

i've told you earlier that i was working on a D.A.K. version .
Now you can see that even with one of the cheapest models of the Tamiya line you can create a very nice model .
Can't wait to see your panzer grey model .

happy modelling. :-) :-) :-) :-)

Beautifully done.
I love the subtle drybrushing and weathering with a little of the previous paint job showing through, I use this "technique" as well. The extra details like the camo net, map, binoculars add even more authenticity.
Regards,
Andrew

Nice model demodelbouwer! I like the way this has turned out and the use of netting and flag helps accent the colouring. I really like your weathering. Not too heavy to hide detail but perfect to show everything clearly and still coming across as used. Im impressed. I have saved all these pictures as a reference of what I want
I too am in the process of building this tank. I have sprayed it tank grey (humbrol enamels) and am planning to try an effect where you spray it with desert yellow tamiya acrylic and after 25/30 minutes pour washing powder over it and scrub all the corners with a toothbrush to show a heavily chipped tank. I saw this method used at our local IPMS where a member made a winter scheme on a russian tank with white over green and looked so cool. IŽll get around to it soon and report the results.
The figures with this kit were very disapointing. Very heavy eject marks right on the middle of all the torso backs and on legs. Dont know if its worth trying to fix them. Probably will use them as spare parts.

Plasticbattle ,

I wil tell you my little secret how i've done this paintwork .
first i sprayed it desert yellow . Set it aside to dry ( APRROX 24 HOURS )
Then i add a wash over the base color but not with a enamel paint but with an oil color .
I used a very dark brown ( burnt sienna ) made a almost transparent fluid out of it .
and add that to the tank . To be sure it would dry without a gloss , and here it comes , i dried the tank with a hair blower . The wash was applied two times . And set it aside again to dry for at least 24 hours.
Then i gave it a dry brush with a very light sandcolor and finally the as you guys call it the 'chip ' . I didn't want to overdue this chipping because that's a failure that a lot of people make .
The wheels are done the same way with the only differance that the wash was a bit thikker .
The flag is self made . I made it from aluminum foil . Just painted it with the right colors and glued it to the tank with white glue .
The maps can be found on the net everywhere .
Overall this tank is build in one week . It is a very simple tank to build . Al the parts fit properly so there wil be no problems for the beginner .

( Some tips ) when you are planning to build this ' little ' tank with an open hatch be sure that you paint the interiour flat black .
Because when you don't there comes light from the outside of the tank to the inside and this is not a pretty sight .
One other thing to prevent day light falling in you have to scratch some internal ' strips' for the sides on the inside . 'cause when you don't you can see the tracks through the opened cuppola .
And use a small drill to make a little hole in the MG's barrel .

That's all there is ....

And for what the figures concerns .......i just tossed them in the scratch box for later use ( or so )

HAPPY MODELLING.

Till next time...

Eric

Looks great demodelbouwer. I will finish my set of 2 of those kits (1 DAK and 1 Grey) soon and post some pictures. You'll have to let me know what you think.

For your flag : do you simply paint the foil or do you prepare it in some way ?

That's agreat job you've done !

Penpen ,

i just simply paint the flag with humbroll matt colors .
but i first add a layer of matt black as a base color.
then i add the colors i need for the flag i want .

when the flag is ready i add to the vehicle and tamper it with a soft brush .
( no washes no brybrushes )
