This diorama depicts a German 88mm Flak unit from the Großdeutschland division, during the fight on the Eastern Front. The snow has melted away in the Baltic Sea city Memel, late spring 1945.
Before this, in January 1945, the Panzerkorps Großdeutschland (GD) was ordered and transferred out of East Prussia to south-central Poland, but never made it. It was moving south towards 4th Panzer Army when 1st Belorussian Front and hit its left flank around Lodz. By February 2, it had retreated across the Oder somewhere south of Glogau. At this same time, the detached Panzergrenadier Division GD was operating in the vicinity of Königsberg, holding open a corridor to the southwest for the fleeing civilians.
This German Flak crew wear there reversible padded winter uniform. The uniforms are so filthy so that the grey / white sides could hardly be distinguished from each other. This fire position may not be the most perfect one, but as I belive they did not always had the time to find a proper one when the Russians came.
1/35 Scale. Manufacturer and kit: AFV CLUB: 8.8 cm Ammunition. DRAGON: 88mm FLAK 36 w / Flak Artillery Crew. KANCALI: Street Section. MINIART: Polish City Building. WARRIORS: German heads.

Nice 88. I have built the same MiniArt Polish building, and the accessories they include are excellent... street lamps, window frames, etc.
Good stuff all around.

The more that I see these guns, the more that I want one or two, or three. With the new metal parts they come with they're really a fine piece. I don't know much about the guns, but the more that I see them, the more that I'm realizing that they used these things all over the place, pretty wide spread. They make great dios, either being pulled or the way that you have yours displayed. Daddy likes.... daddy wants... daddy must have.

I think it looks great, but needs lots more rubble, dirt and mud.
