Is there a 35th scale model of the Gamma Goat? I have thesmall scale kit from Roco but would like to build one larger. I realize most people think this vehicle is ugly but I have always liked it.

No 35th scale kit I'm aware of. Sabot would know. It was such a limited service vehicle that I doubt it'll ever see the injected market. One of the resin companies may do one but you can expect a multi-hundred dollar price tag. I'ld like to get one of these for my collection too.

Here's a link to the gallery on The Barrel Store site. Shane MacKay has images of his Gama Goat he built from the old vacuform Schmidt kit.

Thank you all for you reply. I guess I will have to beg the plastic companies for this one. Shane's Goat really looked good.

A 1/35th Gamma Goat has been at the top of my wish list for a long time. But since it was a limited service vehicle, probably only in use for about 6-7 years on active duty, and was never in combat anywhere to my knowledge, it is probably of little intrest to the general modeling community.
Probably the largest group of people that want one, are people who were assigned to units in the 70's that had them.
The way I'd market this thing is as a "3-in-1" build. You could build the basic version with bench seats and canvas cover on the back, put a commo hootch on the back like the great one shown on the link, or build an ambulance version.
Now if we can just get Dragon or Trumpeter interested!
The funny thing is that if you go by actual numbers produced of the real vehicle, I'll bet there were more Gamma Goats manufactured than some of the German tanks you can get, BUT those things were in combat and that's the difference because that makes them more interesting.

Hi guys
The Gamma Goat that Jason pointed out was started from the old Schmidt vac form kit. With a lot of Scratchbuilt parts added to make it accurate. I've been thinking of making a proper master of this little truck. But It'll have to wait until I'm done the Coyote Trumpiter conversion. We'll See what happens after that. For more pics of my stuff you can find them here.

Shane, I have to tell you, your build is VERY impressive! I for one have wanted a 1/35 of a Gamma Goat for a LONG time, as it is the only piece of TO&E equipment from my original unit that isn't available, one way or another. (I was in an SP Field Artillery Battlion which switched from the short tube M109 to the first long tube M109A1 in Germany in the early 1970s.)
You make it and I for one will be happy to buy one or more! I suspect from previous posts there will be others interested as well. I'll bet if you take a poll you'll get some response!
I especially like the fact that you have the commo hootch on the back. Our HHB had several of those with HF radios for long distance communication before the days of sattelite communication. The other variants we had were the cargo version which can easily be made by installing the bench seats in the back, and an ambulance version, which as I recall had a longer installed box in the back to accomdate litters and an exterior climate control as well.
All sorts of possibilities. We at one point modified the cargo bed to put an operations center for the battery that the Executive Officer used. And the Commo section had several which had very large spools of wire that could either pay out or be reeled in for establishing wire communications between units.

Or, in my case, the largest group of people that don't want one, are people who were assigned to units in the 70's that had them. ... or as I have recounted before, attempted to maintain them ...
That said, if anyone is interested in scratching one, I have some digital refs that might be of use ...

I have Gamma Fever so bad that I have really had thoughts of purchasing one from OSHKOSH for Aprox 15,000.00. The only hold back is all of the problems I have heard from mechanics who have worked on the beast. Work on the engine doesn't bother me, we had the 3 53 detroit on verious aircraft support equipment in the US Navy and I went to Depot level repair school. Some of the problems that worry me is the axels.

Axles, U-joints, brake lines & the articulated joint between the tractor & trailer ... to mention a few things ...

Believe it or not I would be interested in a 1:35 Gamma goat too. A friend of mine had one a while back and used to win lots of trophies in off road vehicle trials with it. While I'm not sure I'd like to have to work with one in service we certainly had lots of fun with it.

One would think with all of these people who would like to have a scale (1:35) kit of the Gamma one of the companies would come out with one. Hum maybe Trumpeter, or Dragon would they seem to be the only ones coming out with new stuff instead of re-releasing the same kits over and over.

HAH! My luck and the first company to come out with a Gamma Goat will make it in 1/48 so that it won't work with all the REST of my collection of 1/35 :-) :-)

You are right! I will need to ensure I request 1:35 scale when begging for my Goat. Maybe if they are thinking of money making potential the basic kit can be released as seperated kits, Shelter, medical ect. I know the Hummer has a lot more veriations thus great for a new kit released yearly.
