Hi, Mates!
Quick question..does anyone have any experience with Tankmaster Models? I have just recieved the 1/35 Soviet t-70 resin/white metal kit and the all metal M4 anti-aircraft Soviet Quad Maxim set...instructions are absolutely a mess! But the kits look extremely interesting! Has anyone built either of these kits and can share a little insight?
Thanks
Gunny

Hi Mark! Can't say about the T-70,but have built the quad Maxim.Yes,the instructions are a mess and good ref pics are hard to find.I liked the kit a lot but some pieces had to be scratched out as their casts were poor(ring gunsight took me about 8 hrs to fab).
In pics below, cooling hoses are not supplied,so I used 30lb fishing line.
HTH,cheers!

Hi Rick!
Thanks for the info, Bro...not much around about these kits yet...I do believe that with the right exposure though these kits may make it to our side of the ocean, marketing wise, that is...The kit quality looks prety good, and I really can't wait to start on these...thanks for the pic's...what types of paints did you use?

Since the kit is all metal except the cooling sump and ammo box, which are resin,it's really prime and paint as you please.I used MM enamels for the base color and detailed with Polly Scale acrylic.Even the fishing line took primer and flat black enamel.I did my build about 5 years ago and I know Tankmaster wasn't new on the market then.
cheers!

Thanks for the input, Rick...maybe if Tankmaster decides to market their kits in the U.S. more the instruction detail might be a little clearer (at least in English!)

Rick...
Any suggestions for assembly? Is there any hidden "surprises" that I should be prepared for?

hhmmm,IIRCC the trigger system mystified me for a while before i went ..Doh! .I think getting the muzzles to line up for the cooling H2O hard pipe linking was a b***hy endeavor. If you are going to depict this loaded with belted ammo, please let me know what mental hospital you are going to check into and I will send you a nice care package To be honest, there are a couple pieces in there that I could not discern between 'parts' or slag The individual rear sites are seperate parts for some reason and I have assembled mine in the down position. I put mine together as logicaly as possible, but I am not a gunnery sargent There may be errors

Hi Kevin!
I plan on documenting the T-70 build for maybe a feature article, just because it's quite an interesting little kit from Tankmaster...I dunno, we'll see what happens...and
Rick...I don't know how the build is going to go but it sounds like it is going to be a real son-of-a gun!...Oh well, that's why I love this hobby so much!
