Another update on my current project. (Boy, you must be tired of this rubbish…)

I have started to make the interior of my “office” and I started in the front makeing my way to the rear. The driver compartment is almost done, it’s still missing the control box for the heater system, need to add some more wires, detail the steering system a bit, and add some small anti slip plates. The interior will not be 100% correct when finished, since my newly found scratch building skills are not that good yet, but I think it will survive a quick peek down the hatch, though.

I started out with the basic interior set from a Tamiya M-113 A1 (Thanks Arnold (Sopmod6)). This set is very basic, but make a good start for improvements. The drivers’ compartment is a very “crowded” place and my intention is to show off what the driver has to cope with. The main thing which is missing in every M-113 kit (I think) is the Pivot system, basically two brake handles which locks the tracks for a tight swing or a very hasty stop. I made this system out of rods of styrene, stretched sprue, and some brass wire. Copper wire from an old Lan-cable has been used to simulate the electrical system, and brass wire for the fire extinguisher system and the drain pipe from the water pump which keep the vehicle “free” of water when fording or swimming. This one is btw too heavy to swim. I made the housing for night vision optics and the main power switch box out of styrene and putty. As I mentioned there are still some details to add before I can call it finished, but I am slowly getting there.

Sorry about the pics. I had to enlarge them rather much to show the details. And Santa, if you read this: I still wish for a Nikkor macro lens for Christmas.

As usual are any comments and critics most appriciated.

Cheers
Erik

That's a damn good job on the interior. Looks very close to the US driver's compartment.

After all that, you aren't going to fix the driver's seat mount?
