Hi guys
I've finally finished this dio and I can honestly say I love it. That's a good thing as I'm not spending another second on it! The vehicle is Dragon's Sd.Kfz 251/16 Flammpanzerwagen. Hope you like it.

FANTASTIC work on the terrain... extremely well executed! The paint job on the 251 is also top notch... would love to see some "up close" photos of the figures and the vehicle.

Tell us about your terrain efforts and materials.... and thanks for sharing!

Great job Glen! Think you should be proud of it. Wish I had seen earlier how your figures would be placed, then I could have suggested then that maybe a plank or two damaged/missing would have added to their concern? But as you don't want to spend another second on it, IGNORE THIS! :-) :-)
Like the way it tells a story without prompting.
Good job, bloke!
Cheers

I like that a lot! Great work. Is that the tamiya kit, or the DML one? Great job, and its simple to. Thats what I like.

Finally! I remember your WIP shots, Glen, and it looked good even then. And it's no disappointment now.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

Some people have asked about the base.
Up until recently I used picture frames only as they were quick and easy, but for this dio I wanted to get a more professional look. I bought a small edge router which now lets me make my own bases. The base on this dio is just cheap pine with a few coats of stain and then a few coats of gloss varnish. Quite cheap but it looks a million dollars.
The black border is 3mm balsa, airbrushed with a few coats of flat black and then blasted with Testors Dullcote to seal it.
I then built the groundwork up using that white styrofoam stuff, placed the balsa and basswood bridge into place, then covered with instant paper mache (same as Celluclay).
The rocky outcrops came next and then on with the grasses and the reeds in the gully.

Thanks again.
Glen

..... glen that was quite a piece of work... the groundwork are especially good! are you going to put more figs or vehicles on the dio?

... a minor suggestion is to open the driver's visor on the 251... he will probably open it to get a better view. btw where did you get the AA sight on the front MG?

Damn! That's beautiful. The story is ver well represented.

What did you use for the grass? It looks very realistic.

Nice work Glen. Wonderful base. You need to put the armoured cover on the exhaust, it seems to be missing?

Thanks for that Vinnie. It wouldn't surprise me, I'm a bit of a newbie.
Would you please point out where this part should go, can't find it in the instructions and don't have any exhaust looking parts left over.

Thanks

Glen, if you look at the top pipe coming out of the exhaust, it's a u-shaped part that goes against the wall covering the pipe. It's part A11 on the instructions. Also, those 'lines' on the hull sides, (top) are there to locate parts that don't come with this kit for different versions, so should be shaved off. I know you've finished this one, but just in case you build another 251. There are lots of them out there!

I can get the exhaust cover on but those locating lines are a bit of a prob. What a thing to miss!
Anyway thanks Vinnie, I'll look out for them now.

If I was you Glen I wouldn't worry about them. Move on and make your next one even better! Great composition and great weathering etc. You're going to be producing some brilliant dio's.

Vinnie
