Here's my second armor build. I am amazed at how much I have learned just watching builds, asking questions, and reading posts on Armorama. I really appreciate all the help everyone here has given me.

Well, here it is. It's a DML Tiger I late OOB with very few of the kit supplied PE parts. I didn't have any reference pics, so I made a lot up and asked a lot of questions.

To help me continue to improve, your comments, as always, are appreciated.

Cheers

Looks great, especially for just your second go at armor. I love the zim, do it yourself or aftermarket? Also love the paint job. The moderate chipping/scratching is very well done.
Three comments: The red tail light should be blue. This was a convoy light.
For the LAH emblems on the front and rear, the crew usually chipped away the zimmerit to create a small smooth box. I'm not sure this was done by all crews in the division, but every photo I've seen shows this.
Finally, I'd suggest dirtying up the ID number on the turret bin, looks a little clean.
Again, really nice Tiger you have here.

Awesome build - the zimmerit is great. Atak?

I'm still building my Tiger but have yet to paint it.

Well done!

Hello Branden,
Wonderful build there! You did a great job! Spot on for weathering and the tracks look very realistic. I also think you did a wonderful job on the zimmerit and paint scheme. You should definately be proud of your Tiger, I know I would be. Keep up the good work and show us some more of you fine work!

Best Wishes,
Walter

Your second armored kit?????? I hate you! :-) Great job ...the only thing I might mention and this is really far fetching it ,is where the Attak sheets end you should blend in the joints a bit so that the edges aren't as sharp with either putty or Mr Surfacer. But this is nitpicking at the max ... Also I'm not sure that the numbers should have the green interior for the 101st ..I think they were just plain white ...again no big deal ,everything looks great ...Good Job!

Thank you all for your comments. I am very happy with the way it turned out.

Rick- I tried to blend the corners of the zim with putty but the result wasn't what I had hoped for.

Alan- Allied aircraft target was the second option in this wonderful 3 in 1 kit. As you can see in the third picture this is clearly the first option, mechanical failure. I was going to build fuel shortage, but everyone seems to be building that one.
:-) :-)

Cheers

Just an FYI - the HQ tanks for the PzAbtlng 101 did not section away the zimmerit for the marking(s). Branden's depiction is correct IMHO, the photographic evidence supports this .... Check out page 232-236 in TIC 2.....

Crockett, that's why I gave myself the caveat about not being sure this practice was universal. I wasn't aware that HQ vehicles specifically didn't do this though as I don't have either TIC book, so thanks for that tidbit.

Branden, outstanding job on your Tiger I Late. Camo scheme, Zimmerit, and weathering are all done very well.

If this is your 2nd armor kit, you are off to a very good start in the art of armor modelling

Good to go !!

Cheers !!

Hey Steve,

Thank you for noting the color of the light, I did mine in red also, (couldn't help but do it the US Army way, you know, nightime red lens....) Now I know that the German tanks used blue-info is much appreciated.

Regards,

Steve

No problem, Steve. I learned about the blue light the hard way (judging critique), so chalk it up as a lesson learned.
Also learned that German fire extinguishers aren't red either. Darn Germans just couldn't do things right!!!

Hi Brendan, an excelent model you've built. The zimmerit and the camo are great. Overall weathering is great, too.
I have just 2 comments; the decals seem very new, a little bit weathering on them can resolve the problem.
The gun barrel is very clean. Maybe the light makes me see like that on the first picture. If they made some shots with this gun it must have some burst residue..

Thanks for sharing and congrats on finishing
