All,

I need some input. I'm planning a decent (actually, rather large) dio....damaged buildings along a street, wall on other side of street, river(?) on other side of wall, bridge leading to the "front" with an M20 or M8 leading/being led by a Jeep across the bridge to the Allied "makeshift" HQ. Behind buildings (entrance to HQ?), one or two GMC deuces loading/unloading troops and/or equipment/supplies.

I thought about adding a section of rail (across another bridge??) that was blown(?). All is still in the planning stage. Oh, add an M16 HT on the friendly side (behind wall) "guarding" the bridge (and positioned on the dio to do air cover [wall and buildings taken into consideration] too).

I ran across Tank Workshop's 1/35 rail sections AND Tru-Scale's "Real Rail." TW's offering is about 16 inches of resin, whereas TS's is about 36" of -you build it yourself rail-; wood ties, nails (dang), resin tie plates and joiners, and weathered rails (not sure what they are made of).

[edit] The rails are made of metal....lends to being able to do curved track!

Herein lies the question: Does anyone have input to the quality of either? I've had TW items in the past; they are pretty nice, but have never seen TS's items until tonight. Does TS have a website? I've googled and haven't had any luck. TW is carried by Tigermodels, so that's no problem.

Here's a link to an eBay auction for the TW tracks:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5983532870&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1re

Here's a link to an eBay auction for the TS tracks:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5999462615

Just from the pics, the TS tracks really, REALLY look nice. Granted, they are more expensive but you get more....not that'd I'd need that much for the dio.

That's my dilema. Any input, suggestions, et cetera would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!!

While I have never seen the TS item in real life, from the picture it looks like the rails are too small (thin).

You'r better off w/Tru-Scales stuff. They are well known in HO scale. I've used some of their stuff and can attest to the quality

Ch,

Thanks. Been leaning very heavy in that direction. Considering what you get, I'm inclined to think that may be the best route. I've talked (email) with the seller and that's only reinforced that belief.

Hope to hear from some others that have experienced either one before I jump and buy.

I like the fact that TS's is wood, resin, and metal.

Thanks again,

Mike

Mike,
Go with the TS stuff. I have the TWS track set and just looking at the pics on ebay they don't measure up to the TS tracks. I bought the set to use for a display base I was working on but didn't like them and ended up using something else. If you buy the TS tracks and you aren't happy let me know and I'll send you my TWS set for the cost of the postage.

Cheers,
Mike

I'd like to thank Ch and Mike for the input that says go with the Tru-Scale. Any other input regarding the Tank Workshop rails?

Going once.........after 140+ looks......

Well, my dumb butt procrastinated, and , both auctions have ended and I didn't get either one. Duh. I've asked the seller of the Tru-Scale set if he has another. I hope so! If he doesn't have any nor expects to get any I may hit Mike (Kelley) up for his set of TWS. We'll see.

Silly me

P.S. to Mike......I'd be happy to pay more than just the postage....only fair (pm sent too).

Just to kind of close this thread:

I received Tru-Scales rail set.....It is BEAUTIFUL. It really is......puts the others to shame, PERIOD!

Metal rails, WOOD ties, resin attachments, AND indiviual RR spikes to attach it all with.

NICE!!!!!!!!!
