Now I just started using an airbrush so I really don’t know what I’m doing yet but it did something strange today.

I have an Aztek 1000S (I think I spelled that right) and was using model master acrylic paint at about 20 to 25Psi.
I’ve used Tamiya acrylic and Testors enamel with it before and it worked fine.

I’m thinking the paint may be too thin but I don’t know so I figured I better ask the experts.

Thanks

Hi Jacob,

Yup, the paint is way too thin.

Also, acrylics are also a little more finicky if the plastic is not clean.

I am in no way a pro at airbrushing but it appears that the paint is thinned too much. I just started using Lifecolor paint and found that I have to use a primer as well for the paint to lay down the right way. I never had that problem with Model Master enamel or Tamiya and I could just spray straight onto the plastic without any problems. Even with the extra step of using primer I have found that I really like the way the Lifecolor paint goes on. I have never tried the Model Master Acryl but I imagine that It will need the primer as well. Also did you thin the paint yourself? I believe that I read somewhere that you may not need the thin the MM Acryl as it is already thin enough for airbrushing. Someone who knows alot more about this may have some better imput.

Thanks guys.

I thinned the paint myself so thats most likely the problem. And I was stupid and thinned it in the bottle so now I’ll have to fix that.

Jacob,
Just grab some spare jars and some eye droppers... That way you can get an idea of what paint/thinner ratio you need..
