I've been trying to research the Tiger zimmerit and ive been noticing that most of the pictures are kinda hard to tell if the front horozontal plate (not the vertical) in front of the hull gunner and driver had zimmerit applied to it!

Joe
Cavalier supply a part to cover the horizontal part you describe in their Late Production Tiger (Tamiya) set.

Some did, some didn't.

I have used eduard PE zim on this Tamiya Tiger I Late:

and that included a sheet for the horizontal plate, as you can see.

I'm building the same kit without all the AM stuff and doing my own zimm using putty and a screwdriver and on that one I'm leaving the horizontal plate unzimmed (is that a word? It is now! :-) )

The Atak set has zimmerit for that area as well. You can probably leave it off, though. I would imagine it would be hard to slap on a magnetic mine right in front of the hull MG...

It seems that the later tigers did sometime have it ...I do have a picture that shows it very well but it looks worn by the crew walking on it ...
