I am currently correcting a horrible build from last year, and I found that I glued the MG on the glacis plate of the M36 so that the barrel of it is parellel to the ground. now, I am going to pose the hatches open to show off the interior, but wouldn't it be more appropriate for the MG to be pointing skyward? or is it OK, or should I shut the hatch above it?
thanks a lot guys.

You're fine to leave it as it is. The MG body didn't protrude that far back that the assistant driver had to swivel it out of the way like you're suggesting.

(know that the hull MG version of the M36 was a post-WW2 variant)

For 3pp. of nice images, go here:

The MG wasn't solely on a free mount. The hull MG was balanced with springs to remain mostly horizontal. There was a lock available, too.

You've got to remember that the MG included its ammo box, the ammo chute into the MG and the spent shell collection bag. On to all this, the .30 cal was locked into place.
