Good Day to everyone.

Just thought I'd post an update on my ongoing armor project which is Dragon's Pz IV F2. Some progress had been made.

Also a quick question for everyone.

After checking my reference books I have noticed that most PZ IV's have various types of added on storage bins/holders for extra roadwheels. there doesn't seem to be much standerdazation on these.

So this morning I decided to attempt to scratchbuild one for my build. It hasn't been glued down yet and I made it from styreen stock and bits from the parts bin. The question is does it look like it will improve the look of the kit, or not?

thanks

Rebuilt bin photo further down in post..

I think it's a great addition, and as you said. There is no real standardization as often crews would weld on things that were lying around. Looks good!

I think it's a good idea, and it looks pretty good. The only thing I would change is the front plate-the groved one. I would replace it with a thin flat piece, or mabe a piece of angle bar. To me, the grooved piece just doesn't look right.

Delbert -

I think this addition looks great and adds some of those little touches that make a really excellent build like this is becoming just bit better. From PzKpfw IV pictures I've seen, this seems to be a common (though as observed, not very standardized) practice. I've also seen various approaches to adding rear storage racks for jerry cans you might want to try.

Hi again all and thanks for the replies..

Generalzod I plan for it to be the base color of the tank. whatever that will end up to be.. LOL

After reading Parks20's post about the grooved peice not looking right I went back to my references and didn't find anything similar.. (although it looked like a grooved peice it was actually 3 peices of channel glued together).. so I went looking through kit bits and found a bit that seems almost perfect for the job.. so here is an updated photo...

again comments welcome...

Hey Delbet,
As my Father would say, much gooder. I think that looks much more realistic. Good job, and keep us posted.

I like both versions. Since these type of racks would have been made of whatever the crew could scrounge up, I think any material would work....well, anything they could weld at least.
