Wondering what would have been the tow vehicle for a 17pdr during the summer or fall of 44. I know the Crusader Gun Tractors were used but I was wondering what else might have towed either British or Canadian guns?

17 pdr towing vehicles:

Chev or Ford FATs
Ram Gun Towers
De-turretted Stuarts
Matadors (I think)

After trying to find out more about this myself, i know for sure that the following british tractors were used:

1) Guy Ant 4 x 4 FAT
2) Morris C8MKII
3) CMP-FAT-4 CAB13

Here is one of the model that Tamiya has made which i currently have in my stash:

Hi There

US lend lease half tracks were also used, most of the pictures I've seen also have a 25pdr type limber between vehicle and gun.

HTH I hope you all have a superb 2006

Best regards
Nick Perry
