Hello,

I'm looking for pictures of the Flakvierling on the Sd.Anh 104 trailer. This is the same dual axle trailer used for the flak 37, generators & search lights.

Thanks,
Sam

Sam,

The Sd. Anh. 104 trailer (two single axle bogie units) was developed for the 88mm and similar weaponry.

Similar carriages were the Sd. Anh. 202, 203 & 204.

Geoff Lacey plan series Number G44 shows the 88mm Flugabwehrkanone 41 (FlaK 41) on Sonderanhanger 202.

The elder version was the Sd. Anh. 201 with extended flowing mudguards as per the Bellona Military Prints Series 9 (published in the UK during the 1970s).

Although all these trailers look similar, they have detail differences.

I have seen a large generator mounted on similar if not the same carriage at Saumur Museum and I believe it was part of a searchlight system. These exhibits have since disappeared but they were I believe in Swedish Military Service not German. Although they were probably Axis produced they were modified by the Swedes. I believe they are the subject of a French produced 1/35 scale resin kit.

The 3.7cm Flak 43 was mounted on the Sd. Anh. 58, a 2 wheeled single axle trailer (Plan No.G73 from Geoff Lacey)

The 2cm Flakvierling 38 (Quad barrels) was carried on a Sd. An. 52, a 2 wheeled single axle trailer, which is similar, if not the same as the Sd. An. 51 (Plan No.G135 from Geoff Lacey for the 2cm single barrel Flak 38).

Geoff Lacey plan G198A titled the Sd. Anh. 104 trailer, with its 150cm Searchlight 34, shows the carriage but it bears smaller wheels/mudguards to what might be the original? This type of trailer was generally used for the mobile Wurzburg 39T Radar Equipment, Sound Locators, and Generators for dedicated Luftwaffe units and AA Flak batteries.

Contact address for above drawings: - Mr G Lacey, 315A South Lane, New Malden, Surrey, KT3 5RR, UK.

NB: Please enclose SAE if in UK or 2-4 International Reply Coupons for US to cover postage.

Pictures of nearly all the above carriages (minus weapons may be found in the “Directory of Wheeled Vehicles of the Wehrmacht” that is now out of print. The book is a copy of the original German Technical Manual D600.

Mr Baumann, Sir! Nice to see you!

There is a nice Roco Minitanks 88mm on a Sd.Anh 104. Artitec do a generator to suit it too.
Have a look also at www.lokshop.de and see the new Preiser new items for single axle trailers.

Cheers
