Anyone who has built it or are familiar with its layout could help me.
I have asked this question before without success until coming across a pic of the firefly turret complete with items in question. What I'm referring to is the 3 round disc shapes between the loaders' periscope and the central circular vent. I figure the taller of the 3 would be the search light mount, but the 2 small have me flummoxed... Basically I want to know if I need to remove them when making the M4A1 DML which shares the same turret...
Have a happy new year everyone, and speak to you next year! (7 hours time for me;)

Hi Bradley:
I ignored your question the first time b/c I didn't know the answer -- here's the best I can do for you though:
One post is for the spotlight -- that's correct. One of the smaller posts is for the cap that would be plugged into the spotlight post when the spotlight wasn't in place to keep out water-- make sense? Which one of the smaller ones -- I don' t know. The third--- ????

I just glanced through some pics I have a various turrets, and the only "pattern" that I see is that if you are building an "older" Sherman, you can shave them off. I'm not sure when the spotlight became standard equipment.
I have a couple of shots showing none on an early production M4A2 turret, 2 on an M4A1 Grizzley turret, and all three on a Firefly turret.

Yeah I figured that! So what you are looking at is the actual cap in a stored position? You say plugged, so would that mean that it is over a 'male' projection when next to the spotlight stand? Or maybe it has a thread to secure it? Hmmmm.....
Cheers

The round disc closest to the loader episcope is part of the turret main casting, and seen on many mid production early M4 turrets. There were 3 of these. One by the loader, one by the gunner and one at the top rear center. My guess is that these are casting locating marks.
