Im not in this campaign Dave , i finished my 6x6 months ago , but as you have allready probably figured out its a beauty of a kit .
I like the wiring you have added to the engine , i take it you are leaving the engine side covers off (which was a common practice in summer i believe ).
Do you intend leaving the cargo deck open with the cover stays stored?
If you use the stays in the upright postions ready for the cargo deck cover (which i did ) be very carefull they are somewhat delicate
Keep us posted Dave

You've got pretty far in the first day! Don't you just love a holiday? Easy kit as I am sure you see. Are you adding the decals provided in the picture or custom decals?
I like the detail to the engine. I am assuming that you will leave the side panels off?
Great start, and hope for a good finish.
Jeff

You are doing a lovely job of the kit my friend. However the kit is a GMC-CCKW but your photo is of a later M series truck and does not match the kit.
so here is one to help you out
cheers
Cliff
PS> the pipe you can see coming from the engine and up the LHS windscreen frame is the air clear pipe lengthened to allow the truck to wade through deep water without drowning the engine.

Cliff, Thanks ever so much for the pic.. Had a bit of an issue finding a decent image on google..Will take care of that right away.. Heres one on me... Ok, two.. .. I like the look of the snorkel.. may add that in.. Also, could you tell me what side the brake master cylinder is on.. I think I will add brake lines to the kit..
Ian and Jeff, the engine side covers will be left off, I like the idea of seeing the motor. I have an accesories kit, so I will be leaving the top off, Might even try my hand at a milliput cover.. Thanks guys..

I'll be doing the same kit for my Wheels. Gonna tow a 105mm and carry the crew.

most of the main brake gear is on the inside rail, RHS behind the battery. Here is some pics to help.
this is the chassis layout from the TM manual
The brake and clutch linkages. The small round foot lever further in is the starter button setup on the CCKW.
The Brake vacumn tank.
Last two photos were taken by myself of the remains of some ex-Israeli GMC-CCKW's which found their way to Australia. They were all the banjo type diff models and not split diffs as usually found here.
cheers

Thanks Cliff. That chassis layout is going to come in usefull.. I was also wondering about the battery.. Figured it would be on the frame rail.. Looks like ive go a bit of plumbing to put on the Vacuum canister too...

Dave the battery box is with the kit. The TM shows the battery without the cover which is why you may have thought it was not there.
Cheers
Cliff
PS> I do have a lot of detail photos of the CCKW so if you need anything just ask and I will probably be able to help.
