Model Maniac Annual Report 2005
============================
First Half of 2005 :
141 kits in 6 months, unthinkable?
============================
One good thing about living a single life is that you can buy as many kits
as you want without nagging words from your spouse, and that's my case. Last year I bought 114 kits which I thought was a record that's hard to break, but just half year this year I broke that record already. The new record is 141 kits in 6 months and this will be really hard to break.

Falcon, if you are not the model manic, I don't know who is.
In this brand new year I hope you can take the time and build at least one model. I would love to see your own work!
Happy new year to you and "Art Instructor"!

You could easily cover a debt of a small third world country with the money of your model purchasing.
Amazing collection,
Mario.

I hope your collection is well insured Phaisal, at over 2000 kits that is some serious investment.
You should let Art Instructor have some sleep, or maybe even a small holiday :-) .
And a happy new year to you aswel
Cheers
Henk

Many thanks for your kind comments and blessings!
Benjamin, I'll work on Dragon's railcar & tank 1:144 set because it's cheap and expendable.
I gave my airbrush to my modeler long time ago, so I'll paint it with brushes.
Mario, you were exaggerating - just kidding - I think. All my spending for the year 2005 on
models & modeling services is well below $10K
Henk, I don't have any insurance or security system for my collection. It's in the hand of God.
"Art Instructor" can have as much sleep and holidays as he wants, for I've never set the
completion date for him. All's up to him.
John, many people thought I was rich, until they saw my one and only personal vehicle :
Hilbert, where do I put all those kits in?, you gotta see this page :
http://www.falconbbs.com/model18j.htm
AndyD, I'd be glad to welcome you and the extra model. In fact I got one on New Year's day
from an old friend who migrated to Australia. As for the world record, there's a possibility.
JM, yeah, my modelers will take years to build the models in my stock.
Happy New Year to you too. Singapore is very near, hope to welcome you someday...

I thought this site was about a passion for models and modelling?
I know Flaconbbs desire for just collecting may seem weird to us builders but is it any reason for you and Heavy_Arty to mock him?
I know your both long time posters and staff etc and normally nice, helpful guys but this kind of derision, to be blunt, makes you both sound like jerks.
Phaisal if collecting models, both built and unbuilt, gives you pleasure go for it mate! Don't worry about your distractors - especially those within the hobby!!
Cheers,
A

I have to agree. With Gino and Jim. Whether he builds them or just collects them....this is bragging......and it's very, very distasteful. That's what upsets people.

I don't find it distasteful at all.
It actually makes me feel better about my own stash :-)
Possibly the brashness, boasting elements of his posts are due to English being a 2nd language to him?
I don't know - I see both sides here - but his posts are harmless and of interest to some (witnessed by responses/ reads) I don't understand why certain people of good standing would waste time making posts that could only hurt a fellow modellers / collectors feelings.
I'm at a loss why anybody would waste their time to make such vitriolic posts on a such a friendly site.
Anyway I have one beer left -

I have to go with Andy on this one guys. What I see in Falcon is his passion for collecting models. There's nothing to brag about really...
From Falcon's past posts I get a chance to see many built models that normally wouldn't be seen (such as obsure DML figures). How cool is that?!
Besides, Falcon never judged anyone here (from what I read), why judge him?

....of course. He only visits to display what he's bought. His 'modelmaker' Art Instructor is the one I'd like to talk with. Read above. 'Armorama.com - For Military Scale Modelers'. Not ...Armorama.com - For Military Model Collectors. Falcon never judged anyone here

Andy you got it in a nutshell, what the hell kind of comments are those? Seriously, they serve no purpose, have no constructive element whatsoever, and the only possible effect they could have is a negative one.
Phaisal is, from my understanding, simply posting as many of us do when we are excited about something modelling related, to get it out, just to tell it to us, as some of us ARE interested.
If Phaisal enjoys collecting models, and he DOES build some, however, if he wants to collect more than he builds, what is bad about this? Who is anyone to try and make him feel bad about this, and ridicule him because of this.
think about it...
Cheers

No-one is judging him. Simply put, Armorama is a Military Modelling site. The emphasis on Modelling, not a showcase for collectors. Personally, i'd sooner see twenty pieces of poorly-executed . ORIGINAL work than one 'commissioned' model....Jim

I agree with Jim as well. This site is for Modelling, implying that you are building them yourself. Coming on here and displaying and bragging about models you have built by your Professional Builders is in poor taste. Then getting all offended when someone offers some constructive criticism on those excellent builds, when some are obviously not that great, is even worse. If he were building and collecting these for his stash, I would have no issue. Coming on and bragging about his collection and how much he spent on it is in poor taste.
Build a few of these yourself and display them here for constructive criticism and helpful words and I will then be impressed.
