Anyone else see the 1/9 scale M1A2 at Wal-Mart? It was R/C and $199.99. Wife mentioned that I had a birthday coming up in a month...

Here is an old eBay auction for one:

I saw it before Christmas at one of our local stores. SWMBO's comment was, "just keep walking." There was also a 1/9 M5 Stuart at Sam's Club, makred down to about $79, with a few action figures as well. They're probably long gone though.

Off course, you'll say the same thing the next time SWMBO sees boots she wants that cost the same :-)

Robin,
This isn't the one that had all sorts of suspension issues is it?

I saw one at our Walmart last night that had been purchased, returned and put back on the sales floor with a clearly defective driver's side suspension, thrown track and mangled box. I think I'd pass on this one.

Guys:

This was mentioned on both Marui Tank Group and RC Universe, and someone claims to have talked to the makers.

The report was that the makers found design flaws in them, mostly serious weaknesses, and stopped production and redesigned the flawed areas.

Some of the ones out there are what could be termed second-edition units, but as yet, no-one has told us how to tell them apart short of being able to tell First edition ones are broken.

Some of the Texas guys have run theirs with no evidence of breakage, so I'll see if they can report on their UPC numbers. Can you go back and get the UPC code off ther box on that unit?

A friend at work bought his son the Stuart for Christmas and only ran it for a couple of hours before the drive sprocket broke. Just shattered. He called the company and they are sending him a new one for free. Tells me that they know there are problems.

Has anyone measured one out to see how close or off it is from the real thing?

It would make a great static model!

I'd seen it as well. I drooled, gave my wife that impish look..I was given the raised eyebrow and we moved on with an audible groan coming from me.

I want one! I'm trying to figure out how can come up with the funds to get one.

Hope you get yours Robin...and try not to have too much fun.

I saw one today when I was over the in Presque Isle, ME at the Walmart there.

Pretty cool looking, and damn huge.

The only thing is though, is I think Canada Customs would have me bent over a barrel raping me for duty if I tried to bring it across the boarder!!!
