Hey Dawid
As you have noticed many russian vehicles carry a wooden pole on the back on their vehicle. Particular the combat vehicles. Eg most of the Tanks the Bmp-1, Bmp-2,.....
I onces learned how to get your tank lose out of a swamp when there is no ARV around. This example is for a Belgian Leopard 1. You just tie a big piece of wood like a tree with no branches with a chain around the track. You just start drinving and hope to get lose this way. The pole should give you grip back again.
I don't know if there would be another reason why they carry it.

I ...what is that piece of wood in the back of this tank ,
I read somewhere in this website that the wood is used by the russian during the cold winter tank when the tank can potentially can stuck in the snow or ice. The crew will simply put the log underneath the tank so that it will can a good grid and move on .....
Hopes this help....

It is a unditching beam, used to get the tank loose when stuck.

Roel got it right. I have done this plenty of times during winter conditions with a lot of snow. Only difference is that we basically make a "rope ladder" with several poles linked together with rope. Very usefull in steep hills etc.
Cheers
Erik
