Does anyone make a M-24 Chaffee in 1/35 scale that I won't have to sell my left nut for because it's all resin or the like? I ran across Guntruck's M-24 photo's and it looks like a nice kit to build. Something different then American Shermans or Tank Destroyers. Just wondering if anyone knew of a kit or of a kit in the planning.

Italeri has a nice kit of the Chaffee ...of course it isn't perfect but does come out looking quite good ...Now if you really want to go downtown with this one the Formations Chaffee upgrade kit is really really nice .

Does anyone know where I can order the Italeri kit. I usually get my stuff from Squadron, but I am not finding it there. They have all the upgrades and add-ons but no kit haha.

You can also check eBay. There's usually a few for sale there.

Well Ryan:
The Italeri kit is nice but let me tell you... I got the Formations upgrade a few months back and if my left *** was up for hawk, I'd give it serious consideration!

It's an awesome kit and you'll see what a nice, finesse kit it is in comparision to the donor Italeri M24 that it completes.

If you're really a M24 fan, treat yourself to the Formations kit. It's spectacular!

If you are buying the italerie kit, buy also some AM tracks because the tracks in the kit are truly *#*# up
I build the kit too and I was very pleased with the overall fittings, but the tracks are a serious problem.

The tracks suck. With a capital "S" kind of suck.

Its a nice kit otherwise though. I really enjoyed building mine and I would love to try the formations update.

Well, not to buck the trend, but my original Italeri M24 tracks went on ok, are only a little bit tight and are still in one piece after 15 years on the built model.

I absolutely love this kit. For the money it's hard to beat. Add an aftermarket set of WW II tracks if you like (the rubber chevron tracks in the original kit are post war) and a simple set of PE (On the Mark makes a great small set that he sells for something like $5 if you can find it) and you have all the makings of an award winning model. You have to do a little work, like adding the lightening holes to the sprocket & idler and make a few fender braces out of sheet stock, but other than a few more things of that reasonable level of effort, it's builds just fine.

Great kit. I have 3 in the stash.

Just going t echo what the others have said thus far...nice little kit in need of some after market tracks. Greatmodels usually has them in stock. I believe the last time I looked they were about $20 or so. For aftermarket tracks, Frui makes a great set. I built mine OOB, but still like the look of it. Always liked the way Telly Savalas ran his in the movie with no turret and a .30 cal... too funny. Good luck. "Q"

Just checked Squadron. $24.95

Ryan -

Saw the "Armed Forces, Europe" and thought that with my ever increasing "stash", I'd like to offer to send you the Italeri M24 Chaffee kit I've got that is gathering dust. That way you can save the $$ and put it toward the AM tracks. All I need is an address in a PM and I'll try and get it out to you ASAP. From one vet to another. Let me know,

My battalion had a real one they were restoring. They found it getting ready to go out as a target at Graf and took it. Missing the main gun, bt we managed to get tons of pieces and the twin caddy motors to make it actually work. We welded on a pipe for the main gun, though we were always on the lookout for the real thing. Noth9ng like building a 1:1 kit :-)

I've got the Italerie in the stash and hope the tracks go on without a hassle when I make it

Well, what can I say - I really like the Italeri model kit too and had a lot of fun building mine. I also have the Formations Models set, and I think that though it is quite expensive and nice in detail - I don't consider it a must for modeling the M24 Chaffee. I think you can put a reasonable amount of modeling effort into the basic kit and turn out quite a nice representation.

I'd spend the money on first obtaining an aftermarket set of tracks before the Formations Models set - as this is a major drawback to the Italeri model kits.

I agree with the track suggestion. Armour Track Models made individual links for both the WW2 and post war M24 kits. They weren't too expensive IIRC.

I built mine in 1995, added a few parts from an old Airwaves detail set. Not the best, but the only game in town at the time. Still a decent kitand doesn't need an arm and leg to bring it up to snuff. Tracks were the rubber chev's on my kit, still in one piece after 10 years. Try Roll Models, they always seem to get the stuff I need.
Just my 2 cents, good luck

I built one of the re-released Italeri M24´s just a couple of months ago, and I was very pleased about thee quality of the kit, obviously have some faults, but came up rather well. If you want to get some, go ahead, as I say you´ll be very happy building it.

Here´s some pics of mine

cheers
