I promised some guys that I would take some good pictures of the SINCGARs mounted inside the racks. Rather than taking the radios outside, I just used our test mount inside. It is set up exactly the same as a vehicle mount except that the power is coming from a power supply and not vehicle batteries.
Enjoy guys and if you all have any questions, feel free to ask.
EDIT: Oh, if your wondering about the holes, these SINCGARs where on the shelf waiting for parts to come in to be repaired.
This is the rear of the mount. The far right cable is the power cable that goes directly to the vehicle battery. The next two cables go to the speakers, and the far left cable, I'm not sure where that one goes to.
The tin cable on the bottom SINCGAR connect directly to the antenna. The thin cable to the upper left connects directly to the second antenna.
The hand sets can connect directly to the speakers.
The folowing are with a SINCGAR and an ASIIP.

Thanks Pete, this was perfect since my Pro Art Sinccars arrived yesterday. One question: Is the Sinccar made by Harris?

I'm not sure Erik. I just looked on the data plates on one of them and it doesn't say who the manufacturer is. I also looked throught the manual and it doesn't say.

Hi
Great pics, do you have any showing them in other vehicles such as 2 1/2 and 5t trucks or know of how and where they would be fitted.
cheers

Just curious where everyone is getting their SINCGARs? I have been looking all over my usual online vendors and none of them carry Pro Art. Anyway thanks for the help and the photos!

Hiya,
Neat pics.
Just to be clear, the pics show two different types of radios. Both are SINCGARS, but one is the larger/older type, and the other is the smaller/newer type. They are equivalent in basic functions, with a few additional features on the newer model. As well, the user interface is better on the newer type, menu-driven and much easier to use. The newer type is a good deal lighter than the old type, too.
Both types use the same rack, as shown. The space to the left of the smaller type will not accomodate another radio, as there are only connector sockets on the right side of the rack itself, which mate with the back of the radio. (See the pics further down. They show the newer type radios installed also.)
The handheld mike can connect directly to the radio, or can be connected to the remote speakers that are seen in the space below the radios. The system can also be connected to intercom-type boxes, which are standard in UAHs (Up-Armored HMMWVs; the factory armored Hummers). This allows them to be used with CVCs or headsets with boom mikes.
The antennas for the SINGARS no longer require the old AMU (Antenna Matching Unit) like the VRC46-series radios did. They use digital 'trimming' for different frequencies, instead of mechanically adjusting the antenna dipole length inside the matching unit. In fact, I have seen the thin whip antennas used with the newer type radios, instead of the two-piece fiberglass antennas seen most of the time.
Cheers!

Yeah i purchased the Pro Art SINCGARS set but its a real shame that it doesnt come with the mounting frame. The one that comes in the Tamiya kits were for the old style radio receivers.
Been trying to wire it together last night and i have to say it requires lotsa skill with them tweezers.

I too envy them but i resorted to buying the SINCGAR set from the Blast Model online store instead. They sell Pro-Art stuff a well which helps. Cost me an arm and a leg but its worth it especially when im in persuit of accuracy.
