Hi all,
This dio will be a streetfighting scene with 6 or 7 Germans returning fire, somewhere in east europe.Currently following Keith Forsyth 'simple diorama' for tips and techniques, which has been great.
The base i have made myself, cobblestones are made from lentils, footpath has been made from cutting out very thin, small, pieces of plywood.
Still have to add debris at the back of the building, make a wooden door, which will be open towards the street, used as cover from incoming fire, plus maybe a broken power line.Airbrushing and weathering are for later. Can't wait to use my new airbrush(late Christmas present)!
Any suggestions would be great,go easy on me,i haven't been on the block to long!!Cheers,Shay

Nice molding... You have really done quite well on this...

I think it would hav been better if you had put some of your figures in the scene... that would help us to get the idea on your mind...

And I think the house is too big for this scene ( its my idea ofcourse )

Keep up the good Work

Hey Shay! Think you are on the right track here. As for the height of the building being too tall according to Plamen, if you have something that connects the top of the building and the street level halfway, it will 'tie' the height difference together? Know what i mean? For example, if you pile a lot of rubble on one side of the building and have a telephone pole leaning across in front of a 1st storey window? Basically, if this is going to only contain figures and not an AFV of similar, then it can be tough to maintain the focus with such a height looming behind the action...
As for the door, I wouldn't expect to see one opening to the street, but rather inwards. That said, You could have rubble being used as cover, maybe break a top section off and have the mass of brickwork that has fallen below placed at a 'opportune' angle to provide cover for your figures?
Kepp up the good work it's well on the way here
Cheers
Brad

Heyguys,
PlAMeN;i thought too that the building looked too big for the dio(camera angle wan't so good),but i will def. add something to 'tie' in the scene alittle as Brad mentioned.I will be adding a great deal of rubble and debris at the back of the building so this should also take some of the height away from the dio.If anyone else has a suggestion,it would be helpful to me.
Thanks,Shay :-)

Hey !.The lentil method is my first attempt and it worked well.I first glued the lentils in place and sprayed them with a matt gloss to stop them sprouting.Tested a couple of sprayed lentils first in a little water to see if they swelled or not.I will post an update in a day two.Still would like some ideas to tie the street and building together to stop the building from looking to tall.Any ideas are welcome!!
Cheers Shay
