HI. Last week my local hobby store got in a set of Tristar's new German Panzer IV moveable suspension/wheel kits. Looks really good too.
This week when up there I bought Drgaon's special kit--"Johnn Huber's" Jadgpanzer IV L/70--to go with Tristar's suspension kit.
I noticed in the instructions in the Tristar kit that it tells what to remove in the other company's kits so that their suspension units will fit onto the hull and all and it looks like the whole thing will work out quite nicely.
Anyway, I was just wondering if anybody had tried any of these conversions to either the Dragon or Tamiya Panzer IVs yet and how their success was with them. It appears to be almost too easy. If so, this is a great "shot in the arm" to these older Pz. IV kits.

Thanks and take care, Larry

I haven't tried the conversion but I have built them up for the Panzer IV D kit from TriStar...They go to gether real well and look great ! Congrats to TriStar for bringing this out as a separate kit ...I know I'm going to get a set for my L/70 too.

Larry, I have seen this Tristar Pz IV suspension set, and from what I can see, its an excellent set, and well worth the $. Will upgrade any "old school" Pz IV-based suspension kit. Tristars Pz IV roadwheel set is highly detailed and I recommend it to anyone who likes building Pz IV's and varients of it.

Interesting that you picked it for a Jagdpanzer IV/70 kit, because I have the "command" version, and was thinking of using this same Tristar Pz IV roadwheel set for my own.

Anyone who needs to get the Tristar Pz IV suspension sets, PM me here. I have them at my shop.

How is the "Johan Huber" Jagdpanzer IV/70 kit ? What kind of goodies does it have ? I might have to snag one for myself too....... :-)

Cheers !!

Hi, All I've done so far is just take the lid off and get a little 'high' over all the neat plastic-wrapped packages and such, but it looks very nice. It has the aluminum barrel to it and the PE side skirts as well. The kit sort of follows along the same pattern as Dragon's Jagdpanzer IV A-0 series. All the parts I see are clear, crisp and clean, as per Dragon's usual quality. I debated on this kit when I saw it a few weeks back since I had already built the A-0 this summer, but then since I picked up the Tristar suspension kit, and saw how very nice it is, the old brain box started working, fortuntely or unfortunately, and I decided that this particular kit would be a good one to try the Tristar conversion on.

Only downfall to the whole thing? Basically the same that faces a lot of us modelers unfortunately......Time, or the lack thereof. Am already working on 3 kits at the same time now--this in itselt isn't the best thing to do to begin with, so I hope that I can keep my hands off of this two-kit combination till I can get at least a couple of the current ones done. Too many models and too little time.

Take care, Larry
