Hi guys,

I was trying to get this completed within 2 weeks to see how fast i could churn a model out and i guess i found out it was achievable.

Here is my most recent addition to my display shelf. The Tamiya M1046 TOW Missle Humvee Carrier.

Apart from the typical parts from out of the box, this is the first model that ive decided to add resin parts from Blast Model and Pro Art thus making it my most expensive model to date.

Construction was as per normal with one coat of X-22 applied after the base coat, followed by decals and wash. Following that some dry brushing and another flat clear coat was applied. Abit of mud was added but got worried about going overboard so i went easy with the mud slinging.

For display purposes, i did not cement the canopy to the rest of the chasis hence the slight gap you see above the doors.

Thanks to EPI for providing those photos on the SINCGAR radio. Unfortunately it was too late in the build to modify the mounting frame for the radio so i stayed with the old frame. One of the many inaccuracies of my build.

Comments always welcome.

Great looking Hummer. Glad the SINCGAR pictures helped out.

You've probably all ready looked here, but if you didn't, these two article will show you how to cable up the TOW system. You di a good job on that, but your missng some cables. It isn't to late to add them if you haven't glued down the top yet.

I actually totally forgot! Silly me. Yeah its definitely not too late to add those in as i didnt cement the canopy and the TOW launcher itself it not cemented to the canopy.

Based on the photo in one of the threads you linked, there appears to be only two connection to the missle guidance set is that correct? I know one is for the power but whats the other?

Where does the power cable for the guidance set connect to?

Thanks for the reminder!

If i had the suicidal urge to sleep on the couch for the rest of the year, i might decide to do that. :-) I sacrificed a bit of family time to achieve that goal so its payback time for me.

Actually, you got 3 cables. 2 power cables and 1 guidance cable.

2 power cables:

one goes to the VPC (on the missile guidance set) location is the battery slot.
one goes to the AN/TAS-4 (night sight)

Guidance cable: goes from the main part of the MGS to the traversing unit, via the hole inside of the turret, directly below the traversing unit.

I've got some photos of my m966 TOW II carrier. You can find them in my gallery here (2 photos) and on my personal web site. the direct link is http://www.gotrain.org/%7Eemgeer/model/m966.htm

Hope that helps.

Here is the page that shows the main connector that goes from the TU(Traversing Unit) to the MGS(Missile Guidence Set)

You got this one

Here is the cable for the MGS battery

Last, the paower cable for the Night Sight

Hope this helps you out.

Looks good especially for a quick build.

Did you make the Pepsi and Coke cases yourself or are they aftermarket purchases?

Thanks for that.

Those cases were originally made by Gino if memory serves me right. Those who know, please correct me if im wrong. Its a one page print out which you can just cut out and fold like a typical box.

BTW, nice panzer you got there. Had a quick browse through your photo album and would really like to know how you made your sand base.

Thanks for the kind words Matt and liberator. Alot of tweezer work went into trying to get those little bits right. Its also during those times that you find out how fat your fingers really are.

Cheers!
