This morning the postman came staggering to the door with this:
Absolutely incredible - well worth the (almost) $100 I paid for it. Now can anyone recommend a decent 1/35th Panther?....Jim
Review will be up in a few days....

Jim, IMHO I would recommand the Tamiya Panther G. Until DML come out with a 3-in-1, Tamiya's version is slightly better in detail than the DML one.

Hi Jim,... how are things in northern Spain? Keeping those pilgrims in line!
Nice to know that once every thousand items, we, the general public, actually get something before you do, I posted a very brief posting on this book about a month ago, with that said, I'm sure your review will be splendid and much more thorough,.... looking forward to it.
This book has been the number one source of reference as I completed my Amphibs campaign 48th scale Swimmwagen. Like you say, well worth the price of admission!
Frank
EDIT: since most of the Panthers in the book are 'A' models, this might not apply, but if you're looking for a quick build, try Tamiya's 48th scale Panther G, you could spice it up with Hauler PE.

Jim -
Looks like an outstanding reference. Anxious as others for a "/review" if possible. As for Panthers, I'd go with "Wildcard" on the Tamiya Panther "G". If you're looking for the Panther "A" or "D" versions, then Dragon is the better kits.

Hi Jim,
For the Panther, I'd go for one of the Dragon Panthers. The Tamiya is said to be a little bit better in detail but I prefer the Dragon seperate track links rather than the 1 piece Tamiya ones. Also iirc the Dragon kit comes with Pe engine screens and maybe even an alu barrel

Very cool, Jim. I have been considering this book as well, but the price is a bit out of reach for me at this time. Will look forward to your review on it, and it may push me over the edge to getting one !
I would recommend the Dragon Panther Ausf D or Ausf A kits, or if you were doing an Ausf G, go for the Tamiya kits.
Cheers !!

Andy, the ISBN is 092199186X.
This book is one of the best |Fedoricw have published in many a year, the amount of photos in it that i have not seen before is amazing, especially as it concentrates on late war armour. If you can afford it, i would heartily recommend this book, a possible master piece?
Jim, the Tamiya Panther is superior to the Dragon Panther, if you are talking "G's". The Dragon Pantehr D and A, are just as good though, but i think their G is weaker than the Tamiya one, the detail is not as crisp ,and i thought the wheels were much poorer than the Tamiya offerings...hope that helps

Jim, and anyone else who has this book (or has plans to purchase) here is a link to a post on the Axis history forum you might find interesting. While I have heard the pics in the book are fantastic and make it well worth the $, it appears Mr. Vuksic's captions for many of the pics may have mistakes in them. In this post the poster lists all the incorrect captions and corrects them.

Cheers,
Mike
edit: just to clarify, the person who made the post I refer to above doesn't say Mr. Vukcic is totally wrong, in many cases he adds more detail to the captions, and just embellishes them.

Mike, first of all, thanks for the link - truly fascinating. Secondly, I love these 'corrections' they really add to one's knowledge base (as long as they remain cordial )..Thanks again, Jim
