Now, after a Chinook in 1/35th scale, we''ve got a Horsa Glider in the same scale... The model is being produced by the British company Great North Roads and is a resin kit with full detail and metal undercarriage. A BIG kit of an incredibly interesting subject! The full story and images, can be seen:

I hope that they can deliver this in small packets, spread out over a few weeks, as trying to smugle this one in might be tricky...

If you like, I can post plans for the patented "Sneak it in past the wife supply tunnel". It's very effective, though explaining the large mound of dirt in the cellar wasn't any easier than smugggling a 1/35 glider would be.

Hi Jim,
Looks excellent but out of my price range. Now a kit like this in Plastic Injection that's a different matter!!!

That wouldn't be the hard part...that would be explaining the -$320.00 entry in the bank account. it sure is tempting though.

That's easy. You just make little bags to hang down your pants legs and you can spread the dirt around in the garden.

Seriously this looks like some awsome kit. I can't imagine ever buying, building, or most importantly displaying it, but I can dream.

"Sneaking it pass the wife".....
What are you---- men or mice????
Buy it and go boldly through the living room, and tell her to just use that new Vacuum you bought her for Christmas, and while at it to throw another log on the fire....!!!! That you'll continue to do the mighty manly things around the house. Put your foot down, stand up for your manhood!!!!! :-) :-)
Looks like a really nice kit..... unfortunately a little too large for my small apartment.....

LOL! Jim
Surely (who's Shirley?) this belongs in Aircraft!
"Finally" is the word!... it must be a good ten years ago that I examined the masters for a 1/35 scale Horsa that never saw the light of day! I can't believe it's taken this long, but full marks to Great North Roads for answering many modellers' prayers.
Cheers

Bittersweet news. Sweet that there finally a Horsa, bitter that I can't afford that price. Approximately $380 USD

That is pretty cool I must say.
However I can't really see myself paying that kind of money for something that didn't even have engines.

No, no -- you mean a 1/35th Stirling !!!
And can the Stirling handle two of them ???
Gee, when I first heard about this one, I had all sorts of ideas, but at a few hundred USD, I'm not so sure -- that's a big chunk of the modeling budget ...

I'm building one up for a diprama for Simon, yhe owner of Great North Roads at thev moment. Yes, it is big!
It does come in seperate fuselage, Tail and cockpit sections so if you are an airborne 'nut' and you don't have much space maybe you could use parts of it in different dioramas?
It is detailed FULLY inside as well as outside and you get a choice of cargo or seat configuration.
i'm just glad i don't have to keep the diorama when it is finished!

How about a full review for Armorama while you're at it?
Although I realize personal circumstance dictates, in my opinion £180 is not a lot of money for a resin kit of this size.

Im very glad this has hit the market.
Im sure when it was first anounced they said there was possibillity of it being sold in sections, or is that wishful thinking?
Now does anyone have the Hartenstein Hotel's number?
Ill try and persuade them to buy one (for me to build of course) for their musuem!

No -plans for sections at the moment afaik. I haven't done a review on this site before so I don't know who to speak to about it?
Of course I would be happy to!
