I picked up one of these old kits before I left home. Does anyone know if any of the multitude of Trumpeter PLA tanks can be used to spruce up this kit? I'm talking tracks, road wheels, sprockets, turret/hull details, fuel cells, etc.

(:-) Good Morning ROB : I am not certain..BUT I do know that the Trumpeter Kits and the Tamiya Kit's are similar in design, The Tamiya and Trumpeter M1A1 Turrents can be traded .. However I do not know about the T-62 Kit's. BUT it might be worth investigating
As they appear ( On the Surface) to be closest to each other in similarity. Good Luck. Let me know what you find out.

While not exactly a T-62, I have a Tamiya and Trumpeter T-72. The Trumpeter kit is a poor copy of the Tamiya kit. If this were to hold true for the T-62, you would probably want the Tamiya kit for upgrading the Trumpeter kit...not that you would do that.

Problem is that Trumpeter does not make a T-62 and the Tamiya T-62 is over 25 years old. The old kit suffers from the "motorization syndrome" and some details are heavy-handed since the kit was designed as a motorized kit.
I was hoping that some of the T-59 through T-79 line of Chinese main battle tanks done by Trumpeter had some components in common with a T-62 so I could rob the parts to make a better T-62. In particular I was wondering about the running gear and detail parts.
As far as the Trumpeter T-72, it is a poor copy of the Tamiya T-72. It was their first Russian tank and done when all of their first kits were just poor Tamiya/Academy copies.

Trumpeter does not make a T-62...that explains my brain cramp. For some reason I thought that they did.

Hello Sabot,
I was wondering the same thing about theT-55(Trumpeter/skif/Esci switchables).I had the T-62 and gave that to a friend so as to get them interested in modelling. As far as I know, it sits in his closet, never to sse the light of day again. This was the 3rd kit that has suffered the same fate.I have since decided to stop giving away kits to people who have no prior experience with modelling.I feel as though the T-62 would have had a better home with me. I'am not sure about the T-62 having any donor kits available but, wouldn't it be nice if it were retooled?
