The tamiya king tiger porsche turret comes with black plastic mesh for air intakes. Its a struggle to attach and make it look right, any tips would help. Do these intakes need to be painted or leave them black?

Hey Johnny,
I used the PE Eduard grills on mine as i did nto think the black mesh looked right. If you want to continue to use the black mesh, i recommend CA glue to attach the grills. They should be painted the same colour as the base coat for your camo scheme, maybe some dark washes of burnt umber over them to give the impression of dirt/smoke. That is how i do mine.

I always paint mine a metallic......steel is my color of choice. Usually, I just buy the little photo-etched grill cover set and skip that other thing.

As already stated; buy a PE set and replace that horrible black mesh, its prone to fraying and terrible to glue and doesn't look right on the vehicle.
Have fun and let us see what you have decided once completed.

I used regular white glue from my daughter's craft box once. It was easy to clean up any mistakes. I was careful during painting/weathering and it stayed in place.
Now though, I would buy the PE set or get the Dragon kit with the PE included.

If you use CA glue to glue the mesh be very careful not to let the capillary action fill in the small holes. As everyone else said I would go for the PE set.
