Kinda nice that the Sheridan has moved up to rate a set of Fuils. Personally I don't use them, but this poor old "tank" (We referred to them as Armored Reconnaissance Vehicles back in the day) which served nobly in Viet Nam is finally getting a bit of recognition. At least someone (Academy) updated that hideously inaccurate Tamiya.

Ahem... Well, in my opinion Tamiya kit is more accurate than Academy one in more than a few areas... But it is my opinion - nothing more. While I understand that most modelers can enjoy building it, I don't see a point in putting accurate and expensive Friul tracks (haven't seem them yet - I just assume they are accurate) on otherwise extremely inaccurate model. But your milleage may vary.
Maybe I will manage to convince DML to release accurate Sheridan kit... Or maybe Trumpeter will release one? One that would be worth putting on Friul tracks. In any case release of Friul tracks is very good news.

Hi Pawel, not to worry, mine (when I get them) are actually going on a Tamiya Sheridan I have been attempting to tweak. Won't be perfect, but I'm having fun!

Gotta go with Pawel here on this one - I'm happy to hear the Sheridan tracks are coming out, and I'll purchase them - firstly for my Jaguar Sheridan. I haven't messed around with a Tamiya example beyond looking at it and measuring it.
Working on fixing the Academy Sheridan, is, well, ummm, I question the value of the exercise other than keeping modeling skills fresh. The Turret is really beyond description. But, after fnishing it up - a nicer set of tracks certainly wouldn't go to waste...

i've built the jaguar kit and it's beent eh biggest waste of money i ever spent on a kit !
that was the first and last time i buy a resin vehicle !
What problems did you have? I have done some pre-lim fitting of mine and it is fine. Other than the placement of the drivers escape hatch, and the drain plug locations, mine is ok. Curious as to what problems you had "Q"

Dave, AFAIK nobody has them listed yet and I haven't inquired to any shops yet.
My info came directly from an inquiry I sent to Fruil.

I took an old Tamiya and had to scratchbuild a ton of stuff to make it Viet Nam. My understanding was that the Academy kit was Viet Nam'd. Correct Gun tube, acav armor around TC hatch, searchlight and mount. Don't know about the rest, but I'm satisfied with what I did on mine .

All these parts are indeed of correct type for Vietnam Sheridan, but all of them are also completely inaccurate in shape and size... There are however some small details in the Academy kti that are not correct for Vietnam M551 (e.g. exhaust). You can check my review of the kit here on Armorama for more details.

Good for you! After all that's all that matters in this hobby.

Jon at Mission Models tells me the Fruil Sheridan tracks will arrive at his store in February. I have a set that's already spoken for!

Pawel,
please do.. the way DML/Dragon is producing kits at the moment, we would at last see a correct model of the Sheridan... You can tell the folks at Dragon I'll be taking at least 3 (Nam - Desert Shield - OPFOR) with an option for more
