Howdy!

I'm going to be starting Dragon's Ferdinand soon and am checking into the aftermarket kits available for it.

Is Eduard's barrel accurate? Is it the correct length? If not, who else makes one? I'm interested in the Eduard barret because I like the one piece factor.

As for other aftermarket kits, is Royal Model’s PE and resin set worth the cost? Basically I mean the resin bits – do they make a substantial improvement over the kit parts?

Any advice and input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance,

Scott

There are several companies that make the aftermarket metal barrels. To my knowledge, all are accurate. Just differences in price. CMK out of Czechoslavakia (OR whatever the new name of the country is ) usually has resin end pieces. Barrel Depot does some WW 2 era stuff and it is one piece. Jordio Rubio (which I haven't found) I believe is one piece. Eduard is one piece. Never used them because I have found other s several dollars cheaper.

Thanks for the respone Steve.

One of the reason I'm concerned about the accuracy of the barrel is from reading MMIR's Modelers Guide to the Jagdpanzer. He used the Jordio Rubio but states that it isn't quite long enough. Unfortunately, the guide doesn't go into specifics about any of the detail sets.

Thanks again!

one of the things I do when using a metal barrel is to mark where it should appear. Usually you slide the piece into the mantlet. I use the plastic barrel fit it in, mark it then slide the metal barrel in until it is the same length as the plastic and mark it. For a Jagdpanther I would check out barrel depot. One piece and fairly cheap out of hobby easy or lucky model. Shipping great to if that is all you order. Something like 50 cents US
