After a series of projects lasting some 18 months, I needed some Out of The Box relief! So using the Modern Armor Campaign as a reason, I pulled out a Tamiya M1A1 and decided to build in a weekend. Just going to fill seams , not really make any corrections.
I wanted to have some fun with it, so I am going to make her as an Aussie AS-2 circa 2010.
Man, building OTB is FUN!!!
Here it stands after 11 hours. I pulled the rollers from the Academy Merk (they are just tacked on for the pic) and reckoned the Aussie would go with twin 50's for the turret (also because I lost the 7.62mm ). The skate ring is similar to our G-wagons and we can fire the 'fifty from that, so why not!
Thinking of painting it Aussie 3-tone, with the older style of Sqn markings & callsigns

Sounds like a good way to get re-motivated. It looks neat so far. Out here.

Looks great, especialy with those rollers and the 2 .50 cal......
For me building OOB itīs almost necessary, twice I made prjects with extra detailing (scratch and aftermarket), make me left the project once, and the other was not a very appreciated kit..... :-)
OOB RULES :-)
Cheers

Very cool, I saw the initial cam pattern painting images in your gallery and they look great.
It would look suberb with the Aussie big white call signs painted on the back deck and the chevrons painted on the side skirts.
I have a Tamiya M1A1/A2 kit sitting idle, maybe after my projects over the next unknown while it will come out and be finished as a notional Canadian version with a mine plow and in UN white.

Looks great. Being from the land of Oz I can't wait to see you slant on the Aussie version. Firestorm (http://firestorm1.topcities.com/) have Aussie figures you may be interested in to complete the picture. I have no affiliation with them. I had (have) a post on the non-slip pattern. Can you please point me to your reference on this?

Hey Jason, the plan is to have either the white c/s (on the turret top vice deck) or revert to the old style of red c/s with the geometric company i.d.'s
I have been posting some updates to this in the campaign DG.
Shane, sorry buds, my no-skid pattern is completely fictional. Any resemblance to the actual pattern is pure coincidence! Thanks for the link to the Aussie bits!
