Hello folks

I'm building tamiyas OIF M1A2, as the USMC M1A1HA.
I wish to paint the vehicle light sand, but the supplied decals are for a three tone vehicle (2nd platoon, B comp, 2nd Marine Tank Batt, 1st Marine Div).
Therefore my question is are any 2nd marine tank batt vehicles painted sand? the current plan is to use the hull chevrons (i'm assuming these are for the 2nd Batt) but not the barrel name. At this stage not really planning to purchase afermarket decals.

thanks
John

First off, for a USMC tank, it is an M1A1HC (Heavy Common). HA or Heavy Armor is not an actual nomenclature and was invented by modeling companies who misidentified the actual name.

I believe Tamiya also got the markings wrong in the kit. They belong to a sand vehicle anyways, not NATO 3-tone camo. Another option is to get Echelon's excellent USMC OIF decals #1 for sand tanks. They are great and look awesome.

Howdy Kereru. Gino is correct that the M1A1 tank(Carnivore, B-24) depicted in the Tamiya instructions was actually with 1st Tank Bn. It was however painted in a three color "NATOflage" scheme. The markings and colors in the instructions are correct for that tank. There were no sand colored tanks in 2nd Tank Bn during OIF. Happy USMC modeling. Out here.

ha ha :-)

Sorry Mike might have to go Gino, at least then i can paint my abrams sand.

Unless someone else either confirms or denies what has been already been posted my odds of being correct are 50/50. Or I accept that tamiya got the decals wrong and I can do what ever i want!

cheers
John

Not really :-) For USMC things always listen to Mike! Gino is our Army expert, particularly on artillery stuff. But Mike is Marine tanker guru!

Howdy Kereru. You can paint your "Hog" whatever color you want. I will lead a horse to water but will not inhale on his backside to get him to drink it. Ha Ha :-) :-) The Tamiiya instruction sheet is wrong regarding which Battalion "Carnivore" was in. "Tanks" for the supporting fires Pawel. Out here
