My knowledge on the Pershing tanks is minimal, at best. If anyone could help on this,.... Does the Dragon T26E3 (kit#6032) represent the initial production batch that served in the late stages of WW2, or is it a later post WW2 model? If it did serve in Europe in the closing stages, where did it serve, and with what units?
thanks in advance,
Frank

The Dragon Pershing is a Korean war version. The Tamiya is WW2 but has an option for a Korean version that I have read isn't quite correct.
I am doing the Dragon version for OBG.

Patially true. Dragon actually made two versions of the Pershing: the T26E3 and the M26A1.
The first 20 T26E3s were issued to the 3rd and 9th Armored Divisions in Europe in February 1945 and were used through the end of the war. Some of their most famous (and photographed) actions were at the Remagen bridge and the battle for Cologne. The Dragon kits gives you all the stuff you need for one of these tanks, just leave off the rear fender turnbuckles and the telephone box.
The Tamiya kit is "almost" a T26E3, but needs a bit of tweaking to make it a true WWII version. Try Googling "Tamiya M26" for lots of reviews and other info.
Both kits can be made into early Korean War Pershings -- agin, check those refernce photos for details.
The Dragon M26A1 is only for Korea. Details are quite different than the earlier model, so make sure you have some good references. Also, be careful not to use pics of M46s -- the two tanks are very similar from the front and sides, but had very different rear decks because they had different engines. Most pics you see from Korea will be M46s.

Nice shot of the fender turnbuckles here:
http://www.patton-mania.com/M26_Pershing/M26_the_real_thing/m26-02.jpg
They're the thin pieces joining the centre bottom of the trackguards to the corners of the hull rear. They were added to stop the trackguards drooping onto the tracks.
The M46 is identifiable from the side by the huge exhaust mufflers (as on the M47 - same hull) - compare with the M26s rear exhaust in the first link

Actually the Dragon Version is a WWII version - the early versions that were in Germany at the end of WWII. The Tamiya version gives the option of adding a few extras to make a Korean War version.[/quote]
The Dragon T26E3 is the WWII version and the M26A1 is a Korean Version only.

Thanks folks, the telephone box to leave out, is that on the rear left fender, on the back of the hull, right of the exhaust?

Top right hand corner of the hull rear. The box on the left hand track guard is a first aid kit.

Great,.... so first aid kit stays and telephone box is kept off, for the WW2 versions. I'll assume that the frame connecting the telephone box to the hull is also omitted.

One final question,... for the WW2 Pershing, do I use, or leave off the front fender turnbuckles ?
Thanks in advance,
