I've decided that even though the new kits from Dragon are outstanding, super detailed, and insanly accurate, i am taking a break from them. Sometimes its nice to just build a simple kit that doesnt hurt your brain with the parts count alone.
To that end i am working on a older Monogram Lee kit. It is 1/32, a bit oversized on some details, but is loads of fun to build. Plus no one has ever matched Monograms Diorama Sheets that came with them. That and some of the older Iterlia kits like the sherman, Chafee, and perhapsthe older elephant.
SO do you all take time to relax and just enjoy your builds?

Well, I am a novice to armor, used to build 1/72 aircraft 15+ yrs ago and just returned to modelling in the last 3 months.
My first kit the Tamiya 223 nice and simple, 2nd DML PZ III J another simple build (tho waiting on Blacken-it shipment b4 i can finish it), 3rd..... DML PZ IV E 3n1... ermm well I have the bogeys done! set it aside for the time being, and picked up the Italeri Crusader Mk1 for a quick simple build (in weathering processes now) oh and DML StuG C/D also started. I will return to the IV E perhaps I will setup a 2nd work area which I can leave it on and work on while I waiting for the other projects to dry etc.... hmmm and so on and so on...

If you are using the blacken it on fruil tracks there are some tricks you should check out. One is to soak the ttracks in vinger for about 15 minutes, rinse in really cold water, then into the blacken it for 15-20 minutes.
But just ask to make sure.

What I do is change formats. I have a stash so I'll root around in it until I see something that strikes my fancy like a car or an airplane. I call it cleansing the palate (like when you taste a fine wine and rinse and spit afterward :-) )

Oh as an afterthought my friend Wildcard is standing behind me and says I should announce that this is #5000 and I am now a 5 star general...Ain't that cool? :-)

I'm building one now and I must say that the Dragon Panther A is a heck of a lot of fun. Not the usual sky high parts count but enough detail to satisfy anyone. Great lot of satisfaction in a box.

I build the Tamiya 1/48 scale kits to relax. Straight out of the box they are quick and easy builds. There are some simple detail sets that add PE headlight guards, grill mesh and barrels, but the kits look great to me right out of the box.

The finished product looks good and sits proudly in my display case.

I just finished an Sdkfz 7/2 with 3.7cmflak that i received for Christmas. Simply build by todays standards. I mainly build WWII armor. But once in a while i'll do a modern vehicle or plane for something different.

I agree with Robin, the 48th line builds up nicely and easily. Makes a nice break from the individual track nightmares associated with 35th. (with that said, guess what I'm building,..... Dragons T26E3, for the Patton campaign,.... I'm already sick the tracks! )

I am with Robin here. I have been building those 48ths as well. Simple fun builds. Highly recommended.

congrats steve!!!!!!! or do i salute and say gen'l the bluecoats are a commin.....

i build to suit me, and if i do any add ons, thats fun too. i am doing the vn era, cause i was there, and it is meaningful to be as accurate as i can. and i will eventually display here, and will welcome any and all comments, because constructive crits mean i will do a better model the next time.

as i have told steve and ben, i will build a armored cav platoon/troop, and that is my goal for now. and i got it past swmbo with the number of mods that i have to do that.

dunno what i will tell her when i go to ww2..........

It was only a couple of weeks ago that I was sanding down the Miliput on the front of my Monogram M3. Mine will (eventually) be a British Lee with sandshields and commander pinched from a Grant.

I've just finished my first airplane since 1982. That was fun. I mean, getting a chance to use other colours than just OD and khaki is sometimes needed.

As for the older kits - I build Italeri and Tamiya with much entusiasm and I (almost) always love the result. To be honest, I've never tried Dragons kits. So I have something to look forward to.

I play football...
Problem being with my kits is that the more research I do the more detail I afford, and because of this I'm going in the other direction at the moment!!
