I had some Tamiya paint (OD Green) and wanted to lighten it with some MM US Army/USMC Sand Yellow. The mixture never really mixed right and covered even worse. Did I do something wrong or is Tamiya only mixable with Tamiya?
Thanks,
GSP

I had the same problem when mixing Tamiya acrylic with Jo Sonja hobby acrylic with windex as the thinner. It was like trying to mix oil with water. The Tamiya just turned into blobs and after a while formed a skin. Hopeless.

Tamiya can only mix with Tamiya Same with testors acrylic The formula is a bit different Try either Tamiya dark yellow or buff to lighten the OD

I tried mixing MM acrylic with Tamiya thinner to use in my AB.
It worked but not very well. The paint got really goopy and clogged up my AB after a while.
Its best to only mix the same kinds of paints and not try to cross over.

Tamiya is an Alcohol based paint while MM I suspect is a water based paint.
The rule is normally do not mix different brand paints.
I also know Tamiya enamel will not mix with humbrol enamel either.
cheers
