folks this is my entry into the show your teeth campaign. this is the academy 1/48 p-40c.
a few details. the pit, as those who have built the kit know, is very sparse for details. i want to give the illusion of the pit being well used.
first the kit pit as it was when i started.
then what i added. (sorry the pics are a bit blurry)
then i added color and a black wash.
i tend to build in spurts and when it comes to the p-40 i tend to spend hours at a time building so expect more updates and plenty of pics.

an update.
my hawk has been dried and then washed. dried and then washed again. after the decals had a couple of days to really dry i gave the hawk a heavy black wash. then when that dried i gave it a dull coat. when that dried i gave it a heavily dilluted white wash to fade the paint.
and the high overhead shot of the cammo pattern.

I'm a tank guy. I never knew there was a wire from the wingtips to the rudder. Looks great.

Hi all!
Yes there was! And they didn't tought about model builders by doing this! The finished kit is a real pain to handle!
Joe, with all these washes it can't be said that plane wasn't used in operation! :-) Nice job! Don't forget to add a picture of the finished model in the official gallery...

Great looking build. I am impressed and slightly embarassed since mine doesn't look that good.
Just posted mine into the official gallery.
How did you make the antenna wires, I haven;t been able to get any to look that good.

thanks for the kind words. alan the wires to the wingtips is one of the tougher ones i have done. jean i promise i will. just as soon as i finish and then when i find the official gallery. ted it is my turn to be a bit embarrassed. thanks for the kind words. the wires are actually six pound test fishing line. but unpainted so that they would still give the illusion of scale.

this is the academy 1/48 p-40c. it is done in squadron leader robert neale's scheme. the paints: tamiya rattlecan tamiya dark earth, humbrol medium green, and tamiya acrylic neutral gray. the decals are a mix of the kit and eagle strike.
and some close ups of some of the detail.
i really enjoyed doing this one. many thanks to all for the kind words and encouragement.
