The 5 is an 'S' for schwere (heavy) in the rhombus tac sign which indicated tanks. The 1 is a company number.

It's one of the Tigers abandoned in Villers Bocage in the fighting after Wittmann's rampage and then destroyed by fire (though you might already know that) and IIRC the turret number has been burnt off.

Might be worth looking for 'Villers Bocage through the lens' for more photos or Googling for 'Wittmann' or 'Villers Bocage' and seeing what pops out.

Okay, some digging on ML found this thread

http://www.network54.com/Forum/47207/thread/1097502160/That+pesky+KOed+Tiger+%26quot%3B212%26quot%3B%2C+allegedly+Wittmann%92s

so the tank is quite likely to be 112.

The 1 company sign on the bow suggests the tank is 112 or 111. 2 company IIRC reversed the arrangment of tac sign and division sign as well. This always used to baffle me when the tank in your photo was identified as Wittmann's, though that was when his tank was thought to be 205.

The pictures of 212 in the thread show the tank in a different location in VB to the one in your view. I think there are a couple of shots of our 1 company tank in Panzer Colors and in Panzers in Normandy too.
