Does anyone know which Tamiya Tigers (new ones, not old one) can be built properly without the use of zimmerit? I've got the Afrika one (35227), but someone desparately needs it and for me, any old Tiger will do. I also have the late Tiger Ausf E (35146) that I won in a contest, but it shows zimmerit coating. Appreciate any input.

Tigers were manufactured to their mid production point without zimmerit. The use of zim was adopted in 1943, and after that Tigers always were manufactured with zimmerit. So early and mid-production would be accurate without zim. Production of the Tiger ceased in August of 1944 and Zimmerit was not used after September of 1944

You can do the initial in Africa and Early without zimmerit with no problem. It's for the mid and later Tigers that you have to do some reserach on which carries zimmerit, and which does not.

Hi Rob
I just answered your question in the parallel Tiger thread in the Sale/trade group! My answer is a long-winded version of what Dave (pak-40) just gave you!
