Wow. Looks like the toughest thing about this kit is going to be deciding which version to build. I don't build much modern stuff, but I may have to pick up two or three of these.

I'm looking forward to this kit.! The engine covers on the upper hull look nicely molded. I'm sure PE is in the works already.
And, I'll finally find a place for those Mujahadeen figures I bought! Have some nice vignette ideas.
I did look at the painting instructions and wonder why they don't have more than Soviet and Polish versions. This thing was (and is) used everywhere. Certainly they could have thown in instructions/decals for a captured tank (Afghanistan) or Mid East varient. The decal sheet seemed pretty ordinary...

There sure isn't a whole lot of plastic on that one. I agree with the decal assesment, too simplistic. Does anyone what the kit is retailing for?

You've got to remember modern AFV markings are not too extravagant. Basic markings for platoon leaders and company commanders to differentiate between tanks in the immediate vicinity.

I saved some of the DML markings just for kits like this. Plus Tamiya's extra decal sheets that they did a few years ago will expand the possibilities of different nationalities you can do. I can't wait for this kit to be released here. The T-55 has been done so many times but never very well. The aftermarket boys should go nuts with this kit. Now I can get the bridgelayer kit. Please keep the modern stuff coming Mr "T"

I will ahve to get some when the discounters have them... it looks cool. As for painting... Sabot, you are right, and colors... Soviet Green, Desert Tan and maybe a Dark Green?? Not too many choices.

I pre ordered one from HobbyLink Japan and with postage it will come to something under $35. I think that's a steal. They will be the first people with it. I still have not heard that it is on the street.
