Does anyone know where I can find NATO manuver decals (preferably waterslide) such as those that might have been found on an M60a1 or M60a3 in a MERDC scheme during the 80s or 70s? Ive been looking all over for them, it seems they're not produced much anyomore...

thanks

Tamiya's M2, M3 Bradley and M60A3TTS kits came with US NATO markings used during REFORGER exercises. The Bradleys came with Orange Force markings and the A3 came with Blue Force markings.

Also Esci's M60A3TTS came with Blue Force markings and Revell of Germany did a rebox/retool of the Italeri M1038 HMMWV with umpire markings for REFORGER 1990.

These would not be hard to make yourself. They were just big stickers applied to the side of tanks and sometimes held down with "100 mile per hour tape" (green duct tape) because the sticker did not adhere well.

If you have a regular color printer, just use some program and print out an orange circle or blue rectangle with a black 2 or 3 digit number inside. For added realism you can print them on sticky address labels, cut out and stick to your kit.

Between what in some of my M113 kits and a set of markings from Verlinden, I could spare a set. Any specific shape or numbers you are looking for.

Actually I'm looking for octagonal "orange force" markings. I have considered what Sabot had to say, and I'm reasonably sure I could maufacture some of my own...

My only concern with the verlinden markings are if they are dry transfers. I generally dont like to work with those because sometime when I initially place decals it looks like I've been drinking a bit

If you do find the Verlinden ones they are stickers.
If that helps.

They were actually big circles but the application of hundred mile per hour tape made them look like octogons. Most manufacturers made them look like they were octogons with black or green borders, but were just plain circles and the borders were created by the tape used to keep the edges down.

I would not worry about getting them to look perfect. Try applying a big, 2' round sticker to the side of your car door after your car has been traveling along dirty roads. I bet you'd have a hard time getting it on straight even when sober.

Sabot's idea to print a set is the best. For the green tape, I'd get some cheap masking tape and put a section down on some heavy plastic. Paint green and cut into strips.

Here is what the Verlinden set looks like:

The instruction sheet explains the variation in shape and color.
