This is Dragon's M1 Panther II Mine Clearing/Detection Vehicle built for the DSB "Turret Toad" Group Build. The Panther is built straight out of the box. There are over 500 parts in this kit, plus a small pe set, assorted metal chains, plastic indi links, and decals. This one looks a bit odd, i.e. the M1 hull sans turret, but kind of fun as its something a little bit different. Thanks for taking the time to look.
Steve

Part quality was pretty good on this kit, but please note the pin marks on the indi link --- cleaning these up to assemble two track lengths got old after awhile (nothing an occasional beer didn't resolve however)

Dragon does a nice job detailing the anti slip surface and grill work.

Finished deck area -- unfortunately the flash has washed out the color in this pic

In Progress Copula

In progress road wheels

Nice detail from Dragon on these filler caps

Looks damned good, Steve. Only one question: Aren't the periscopes supposed to be more "reddish"? I thought they had the same anti-laser coating as the Abrams..

The pictures are great. What kind of camera do you use? The macro is really good.

Cheers
Erik

You are absolutely correct, the lens are supposed to be "reddish" -- a goof up on my part.

Thanks for posting

Hey Steve , great job on this one . Did it include the mine plow as well ? It seems I remeber reading somewhere that it had one included as well . It is a bit odd seing a M1 with out the turret . The pic of the left front hull almost passes for a real tank IMHO . (++)

Looks great.

About the coatings on the vision blocks. Since they look different from different angles, what I do is differ the color between the blocks. A couple will be red, some blue, some greenish. Also something that helps is adding a silver as a base color on the vision blocks and then using clear colors (clear red, etc.) or a very light coat of a normal color.

Also I am wondering if the "pimple" in the roadwheels should also be black due to the clear piece that shows the oil level on the real thing.

Otherwise I see no real big faults but intead a really cool Panther II.
