I recentaly started working on a Sturm. IV from Tamiya. This was a good kit and easy to build, however I ran into one problem. I have really no idea on where and when this tank served and with which units:-? If possible I was wondering if this tank served in North Africa and if I could apply a desert paint job to it?Thanks for your help, C.S :-)

Sorry No Strumgeschutz IV in Afrika, only StuG D's and some F F/8's in Tunis.

Were they in Italy where they could have a semi-tropical camo?

Semi tropical camouflage? All Sturgeschutzen IV were painted with a base coat of dark yellow. Camo colors were also applied. This was the standard camo for all German tanks since early '43. The battle of Africa was in its final death throes -- there were no Tropicalized vehicles b/c there weren't any tropical battlefronts by mid 1943 for the Germans.

I have also picked up this kit and was wondering if anyone has any websites that have pictures of camo patterns that the Sturmgeschultz IV would have had during the war?

I have photographic evidence that 17th SS Gotz v Berlichingen definitely used Stug IVs. The photos were taken in the South of France during 1944, pre- D Day, & show overall dunkelgelb. Don't know if this helps.

It looks as though only the side skirts are painted in this style and the rest of the vehicle may have a soft edge style?
Your thoughts professor?
Thanks in advance

Yes I would agree, soft edge on the rest.
