Hello all,
This is my first posting to Armorama. I am writing to ask a favor, but let me back up for a minute and provide a little background on myself.
I have been a diehard aircraft modeler for the past 15 years, with occasional forays into civilian automobiles. I recently became very interested in modeling military vehicles for the first time. I'm currently working on my first armored vehicle, the Tamiya Sd.Kfz.222, which my son picked up at the Atlanta Nationals for next to nothing. I figured this would be a good kit to cut my teeth on.
Well, it has been, except for one thing- the decal sheet is missing.
I would like to beg a sheet for this kit, if anyone has one. Of course I would take a donation, but would also be willing to pay a modest price for the sheet. As an alternative, if anyone knows of an aftermarket source for decals for this subject, please let me know.
Thanks,
Lee

Hi Lee,
can't do anything for you as I only do modern stuff. This is just to say hello to a new member.
I wish you to find what you're looking for and I'm confidentt that you'll find here. This is definitely the best place for that.

Welcome to the forum Lee. You'll find lots of great information and people here.
I can't help you out with the decals, but if you contact Tamiya they may be able to. Here's a link to their site. Go to the bottom of the page and click on "Contact Tamiya America".

Hi Leeroy,
If you think you will continue to build german ww2 armor you could purchase a stencil for painting the markings.
I'll have a look at home, I may have some decals from the 223 that may just do the trick, so long as your 222 isn't done in Afrika Korp colours... (I built the 223 as DAK, but some decals are on the sheet have to see if there is enough)

I hava a partly used sheet that woiuld be serviceable for that vehicle. It has two smaller and one larger white bordered cross, at least two license plates, and several sets of regimental markings. E-mail me [email protected] your ground adress and the sheet is yours.

Hi Lee,
Now that;'s my kind of model! Not overly weathered (that said, I am known to model some of mine with the tar beat out of them and skin flayed ), not harshly highlighted or shaded. I see the greasy fingerprints around the engine access panel, well done!
I have a plethora of decals going back to 1970. Some are bad, some are still like new, some are usable with a lil' TLC. 1/35 armor, 1/25 armor, mainly 1/48 and /72 air. Need something, I'll see what I can do.

Actually, the greasy finger prints around the access door started as a painting mistake. After I added a few paint "chips" and rubbed in a little dark pastel, it really did look the part!
