I know that I have be asking alot of bizare questions on my Panzer IV H/J and I am sorry for being such a pain.
Anyway there is an item on the Panzer IV that looks like a block of wood straped to the hull, looking at the front it would be on the drivers side, what is this item? If it is a block of wood then, what is it's purpose? Also, would you paint it in the wood color or would you paint it the same paint scheme and or color as the Panzer itself?

That would be the wooden block for supporting the Jack. Sometimes it would be wood coloured, but more often painted over when camouflage was field applied.

Thank you, I just was not sure if my hunch was right or wrong.
