If you can get hold of a copy of 'The Modeler's Guide To The Tiger Tank' by Pat Stansell, from Military Miniatures In Review, you'll find a LOT of useful info for modelling the Tiger. Failing that, any of the Osprey guides.

Hi,

Teacher is absolutely right about the Modeler's Guide. It's an excellent resource.

I would also suggest Germany's Tiger Tanks D.W. to Tiger I: Design, Production & Modifications by Thomas Jentz as well as his photo history: TIgers at the Front.

Great suggestions so far. Don't forget "Achtung Panzer #6" which covers the Tiger I, Tiger II, Jagdtiger, Elefant/Ferdinand and some others -- all with detail drawings of all the fittings.

Given that it covers seven or eight different vehicles, it's a very reasonable price!

Matt,

What are you looking for about Tigers. Pics or history of deployment? I have collected quite a bit on the Tiger one over the years. Some of the more expesive ( very expesive books) deal with a bunch of operational history, with few photographs. Some of the cheapest (Squadron Signal " Tiger in Action" or Schiffer " The tiger tank" give you mostly pics with description of how to tell the different Ausfs apart. These are the ones I like best. I have the Osperey Tiger book, but these tend to have fewer good photos. I feel that Ospery appeals mostly to the person that is interested more in the history of the vehicle. Finally the is also Tigers on the Western and Eastern Fronts published by Histoire & Collections chock-a-block full of photos and color drawings ( most of the pics I've never seen before) a great modelling asset.

For photos and unit histories, the two classic "Tigers In Combat, vol 1 and 2" have been released in softcover. They used to go for about $100 each (hardcover) but now have been reprinted. Check Amazon for them. Fantastic collection of photos and summaries of unit diaries.

I heartily concur w/the reccomendation of Tiger on Western Front and Tigers on Eastern Front -- although Restayn's color renditions may be more artistic than accurate.

The 3 Squadron Panzer Colors books have nice photos but research has been able to clear up some errata. Still a good value though.

If its by Tom Jentz it will be a worthwhile purchase, though I haven't seen that book personally.
